A £4m bid has been submitted to the government to cover the costs involved in the next stage of the development of Bridlington's marina.
The money would pay for the production of a new design and for building up the business case for the marina.
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council believes the marina would create new jobs and stimulate the East Coast economy.

Cleethorpes rooftop standoff teenager due in court

A teenager's due in court in connection with a rooftop stand off in Grimsby yesterday.
The 15-year-old from Cleethorpes has been charged with assault, affray, criminal damage and two counts of assaulting a constable following an incident in Park Street yesterday afternoon.
The incident ended at about 17:00 BST.
Two other teenagers and a 51-year-old man were charged with public order offences.

Work has begun to build a new lifeboat station in Bridlington.
The Art Deco style building will replace the charity’s current lifeboat station on South Marine Drive, which is too small for the RNLI’s needs.
It's hoped the new boathouse will be finished by Spring 2017.

Cyclist taken to hospital after colliding with a car
A 35-year-old cyclist suffered injuries in a collision with a car.
The incident happened on Clough Road in Hull on Wednesday afternoon and the cyclist had injuries to the shoulder, stomach and leg.
Humberside Police are appealing for any witnesses.
Council agrees to Victoria Mills repairs

Council leaders have agreed in a meeting to spending another £1m on repairing a listed building in Grimsby.
The owners of Victoria Mill, which is in a bad state, have failed to pay for repairs.
North East Lincolnshire council have already had to pay out £1m trying to keep it safe.
Woman, 68, attacked in station toilets

A 68-year-old woman has been attacked at the toilets at Hull's Paragon station.
The woman was leaving the toilets when she was barged out the way and punched in the stomach on Saturday, 11 June.
Police want to speak to the woman in this picture about the attack.
Police end inquiry into Bridlington death

The police have ended their inquiry into the death of a 61-year-old man whose body was found in a Bridlington pub in January.
Karl Staten's body was found in a toilet cubicle at the Harbour Tavern on Queen Street.
At the time a 50-year old woman and a 32-year old man were arrested and questioned
Hull's Ferry staff praised for saving man's life

An Italian man has returned to Hull today to thank the people who saved his life on board a P&O Ferry.
Alfredo Cantoni collapsed on board the Pride of York in May.
The Yorkshire Ambulance service organised a special ceremony of commendation to honour the efforts of the ferry staff.
