  1. Five things we've learnt today

    Oli Constable

Thanks for joining us for our live coverage on this very grey and miserable Thursday.

We're back tomorrow from 08:00 with all the latest news, weather, travel and sport.

In the meantime, let's look back at five things we didn't know when we woke up this morning.

    1. Unconscious boy pulled from the water at Hillsborough Leisure Centre
    2. IPCC to search police buildings for Hillsborough material
    3. Warning after slug pellets left in Rotherham Park
    4. Fines after dead people's blue parking badge abuse
    5. Yorkshire Ripper deemed fit for mainstream prison

I feel like this photo sums up today - it was uploaded onto the BBC Weather Watchers website by Mitch.

    See you tomorrow!

  4. Sheffield Wednesday 'lost their heart and soul' this fortnight

    Jonathan Buchan

    BBC Radio Sheffield Sport

Head Coach Carlos Carvalhal tells me this has 'probably' been his most challenging fortnight at Sheffield Wednesday.

He feels the side have not played with their heart and soul in last couple of games, but says it will be back this weekend.

Recruitment wise, he still wants to add to the squad in the next week and backs the Chairman's sensible approach for the future of the club.

  5. Heading to Leeds Festival this weekend? Pack your poncho

    Oli Constable

If you're making your way north this weekend for Leeds Festival, it's going to be wet and very likely muddy.

There's even yellow weather warnings in place over the weekend for rain, so maybe an ark would be more useful.

  6. Rotherham Social services ask for ban on men approaching vulnerable girl

    Oli Constable

Rotherham Social services staff are calling for a High Court judge to intervene to protect a vulnerable teenage girl they say is being sexually exploited by four men.

Lawyers representing council bosses in Rotherham, want a judge to order the men to stay away from the youngster.

In late 2014, Mr Justice Keehan made civil court orders against 10 men from the Birmingham area, who had sexually exploited a teenage girl who was in local authority care, following "bold and novel" legal moves by council bosses.

Lawyers representing Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council now want a judge to take similar steps.

  9. IPCC to search police buildings for Hillsborough material

    Liz Roberts

    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Sheffield

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is to supervise more searches of South Yorkshire police buildings to try and find any further material that may assist in it's Hillsborough investigation.

The IPCC says extensive searches were carried out in various locations at the start of their inquiry, but there could be more material that's now relevant.

It also says a decision on whether it will investigate a complaint by Hillsborough families about the former Chief Constable David Crompton has been delayed, while they wait for further evidence to come forward.

  12. Barnsley celebrates best year for GCSE results

    Gina Bolton

    BBC Radio Sheffield

More Barnsley families will be celebrating today than ever before as the borough announces its best GCSE results.

The proportion of students in the town attaining five or more A* - C grades, including maths and English, has increased by 5% on last year’s results, to 55%.

Another first for the borough is that results at this point are above last year’s national average.

  14. Doncaster UFC fighter taking on Jack Hermannsson in September

    Andy Giddings

    Sports Editor, BBC Sheffield

Scott Askham, a fighter from Doncaster, will take on Jack Hermannsson in Hamburg on Saturday 3 September in his latest UFC bout.

Scott last fought at UFC London back in February, where he earned the $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for a first round knockout win over USA's Chris Dempsey.

This extends his professional MMA record to 14 wins and just 2 losses and sets him up for his bout against UFC debutant Jack Hermansson, from Sweden.

He says UFC fighter Conor McGregor is a great asset for the sport:

  16. Your views: Does high expectation cause too much pressure

    Paul Walker

    Presenter

GCSE day; often as nerve-wracking for parents as it is for young people.

We all have hopes for our children and grandchildren.

But can high expectations cause too much pressure?

Quote Message: I left school with really bad grades. Failed maths and geography. Now I'm 37 and an operations manager for a logistics company. I've gained more experience since leaving school. Far too much pressure on kids now. I'd be proud of my son whatever his results." from Lee

  18. Sheffield United target 'not within budget'

    Rob Staton

    BBC Radio Sheffield

I've been to speak to Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder this morning about some of the players they've been rumoured to sign.

Millwall have apparently said Byron Webster is not for sale. The Blades also quoted £1.5m and £750k for other targets, which is out of their price range.

United have also enquired about about Wigan defender Craig Morgan.
