    Well that's it, this is as far as we go for today. But don't shed a tear dear reader, I'll return tomorrow from 18:00 with more news, sport, weather and travel from West Yorkshire.

    But before I go, here are five things we learned during the course of today...

    1. If you've got a bit of a sore throat and you live in Huddersfield, here's why you'll probably not get any pills for it.
    2. This 12-year-old will really make you feel like you've under-achieved in life.
    3. There is life after a political career, and it's got sequins on it.
    4. Own a car in Kirklees, make sure you keep hold of your bumper.
    5. Watching someone pressure wash chewing gum off the pavement is very satisfying.

  2. Watch: Mytholmroyd boy lights up Glastonbury - from a company he runs in his room

    Have you ever dreamed of handing in your notice and just starting up your own business?

    Well say hello to 12-year-old Elliot Baines from Mytholmroyd, who started his own event lighting business when he was at primary school.

    Elliot has been responsible for illuminating some of the UK's biggest stages.... including Glastonbury!

  3. Weather: Cloud spreading from the east overnight

    Mostly cloudy with patchy rain spreading eastwards overnight. Minimum temperature 13C (55F).

    A cloudy damp start tomorrow with a little rain in places, becoming dry and brighter through the morning, leaving a fine and sunny afternoon. Maximum temperature 18C (64F). 

  4. Watch: Amputee to be father after septicaemia ordeal

    A man who lost both his legs, eight fingers and part of his nose after contracting septicaemia is to become a father for the first time.

    Dean Smahon, 54, had a 10% chance of survival when he fell ill in 2010 and hospital staff missed opportunities to treat his sepsis in time.

    He was placed in an induced coma at Leeds General Infirmary after his flu-like symptoms. The pain worsened and his body fell into septic shock.

    He and his wife are expecting their first child in February after IVF treatment, something Mr Smahon said he never dreamed they would be able to do.

  6. Ban on A-boards in Bradford should be lifted

    Businesses in Bradford are calling for the ban on advertising A-boards to be lifted.

    The boards are thought to cause problems for people who are blind or use a wheelchair. 

    Bradford council has been trialling the ban in Bradford city centre, Ilkley and Saltaire since January, with disabled groups having welcomed the move. 

    But businesses say the ban is affecting their takings. 

  7. Missing pensioner found 'safe and well'

    Some good news, the previous search for Julie Walsh has been called off as she's been found safe and well.

  8. Travel update: A635 open again following crash

    Looks like the A635 in Holmfirth has reopened after the earlier accident. It looks like a fairly nasty crash, I hope everyone is ok.

  9. Urgent appeal for missing pensioner with dementia

    A 67-year-old woman with severe dementia has gone missing from her home in Leeds.

    Julie Walsh was last seen at her home in Garforth at about 11:10 today.

    She was wearing a pale pink trouser suit and carrying a handbag. She generally wears a lot of jewellery including necklaces, bangles and bracelets.

  10. Watch: The West Yorkshire Paralympians riding for gold

    The Paralympics starts next week, one of the sports you'll see is tandem racing. 

    It's a fast-paced, exhilarating sport in the velodrome and on the road. 

    Steve Bate and Adam Duggleby from West Yorkshire were only put together in 2014, but they've already formed a winning partnership. 

    BBC Look North's Sally Hurst went to meet them.

  11. Watch: New equipment to help GPs prescribe antibiotics in Huddersfield

    An £85,000 NHS project to test new equipment which checks if a patient needs antibiotics, is being trialled in Huddersfield. 

    It's a machine which measures the protein in your blood to see if you'll benefit from medication. 

    The aim is to reduce unnecessary antibiotic usage, which in turn will save the NHS money and stop patients becoming immune to drugs.

  13. Series of car bumper thefts in Kirklees

    Sadly, we're all used to things being stolen from cars but it appears someone in Kirklees is going around stealing bits of cars.

    West Yorkshire Police say that this morning the bumper and lights have been removed from a Vauxhall Astra. A bumper was also stolen from a Vauxhall Corsa overnight on the same road.

    And in a third similar crime, a bumper stolen from an Astra in Honley last week. 

    They say that they've seen a spike in thefts from cars over the last few weeks. Make sure you keep yours safe!

  14. Watch: Ed Balls on why he ditched suits for sequins

    He used to be the MP for Morley and Outwood and he was the former shadow chancellor, but now Ed Balls will be part of the latest line-up of Strictly Come Dancing contestants.

    Mr Balls told the Today programme why he has ditched suits for sequins and why he is particularly worried about some of the dance routines coming his way.

  15. A bit early for panto? Oh yes it is!

  16. Hang on to your chips, seaside is 'gull mugging' hot spot

    If you've been out to the coast over the summer, were you a victim of a "gull mugging"?

    A total of 22 people say they've been the victim of one this year.

    The figures have been published by Scarborough Borough Council, the first time it's recorded the number of attacks on people by seagulls.  

    It's a problem up and down the Yorkshire Coast and officials have been taking steps to try and tackle the growing nuisance from seagulls in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.  

    Posters warning against feeding the birds have been distributed, along with gull-proof rubbish sacks.
