  2. 'Wobbly walker' Tony arrives in Wortley

    Tony Hadfield lost his wife and was told he has got Multiple Sclerosis.

    I'd crawl under a rock, but he's walking the length of Britain.

    He's going from John O'Groats to Lands End and today is passing through South Yorkshire.

  3. Weather: Likely to be wet overnight

    It will be dry with some clear spells at first, with  rain spreading south to affect most areas by the early hours. Generally light rain overnight with some places dry, but any outbreaks will slowly ease towards morning.

  4. West Way to reopen tomorrow morning

    A main Barnsley road will reopen tomorrow after being closed for almost two weeks, following demolition work at the former Chicago Rock nightclub.

    The council have said the A628 West Way will open at 9:00.

  5. World squash champion Nick Matthew joins the Virtual Stampede

    He’s used to charging around the squash court, and now three-time squash world champion Nick Matthew will be using his practise time to complete The Children’s Hospital Charity 60km Virtual Stampede challenge.

    Matthew, who's a patron for the charity, says away from squash he's a keen cyclist and is looking forward to clocking up some of the kilometres needed on the bike.

  6. Doncaster's Lund out for two months

    Doncaster Rovers right-back Mitchell Lund will be out for the next two months with a kidney problem.

    Lund suffered the injury in the second half of Rovers' 4-1 League Two win over Yeovil Town last Saturday.

  8. Special Constables shortlisted for national award

    Two South Yorkshire Special Constables have been nominated for the Home Office’s Lord Ferrers Awards for their work with the force.

    Craig Batham and Bobby Dev are up for the awards with SCI Batham being nominated after helping to develop a training course that more than 150 colleagues have attended.

  9. CCTV pictures issued after violent Rotherham robbery

    These CCTV pictures have been released by police as they appeal for more information after a pensioner was pushed to the ground by a man and robbed.

    The woman, in her 80s, had her handbag stolen on Cedric Crescent back in May, before the man fled in a silver Peugeot 206.

    The pair pictured might hold important information about what happened.

    A brand new sports and fitness centre opens at Graves Park in Sheffield today which is part of the London 2012 Olympic Legacy project.

    But there's another new scheme starting in the city which could produce future Olympians, and get more people into weightlifting!

    Sheffield Hallam University is going to be a national hub for British Weightlifting.

  11. BreakingConcerns growing for missing Barnsley teenager

    Police looking for 13-year-old Natasha Ford have issued a further appeal, and are asking for your help to find her.

    Natasha, who was last seen in the Spring Walk area of Wombwell at about 20:00 last night, is believed to be with 17-year-old Samuel Hancock.

    They could be in Blackpool, around the South Beach area, having travelled there by train.

    Natasha is described as medium build with mousy brown, shoulder length hair. She is thought to be wearing skinny jeans and a bomber jacket. She is also wearing a necklace with hearts and gems on.

    Samuel has short dark brown hair and is described as medium build. He may be wearing a black/dark grey jacket with white stripes down the length of the sleeves.

  12. Hope for new powers to tackle problem drinking in Sheffield

    Health bosses could seek new powers to tackle problem drinking in certain parts of Sheffield.

    The council’s public health team is working with Sheffield University to map out where alcohol problems are having the most impact on health in the city.

  13. Watch: Demolition works 'need more equipment' in Barnsley

    Demolition workers bringing down the former Chicago Rock nightclub need extra equipment on site to prevent it collapsing. They say it should be on site tomorrow.  

    The former Chicago Rock nightclub is in the process of being demolished after being destroyed by fire a couple of weeks ago.

  14. Watch: Injured soldier Ben Parkinson to kayak around Greenland

    Doncaster soldier Ben Parkinson is setting off for the icy blasts of Greenland today to raise money for other wounded soldiers.

    Ben was seriously injured in 2006 in Afghanistan. He had both legs amputated and suffered brain damage.

    He's joining other injured servicemen and women to kayak around the frozen waters of Greenland for the next fortnight.

  16. Dozens die waiting for organ transplants in Yorkshire

    35 people in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire died last year while they were waiting for an organ transplant.

    The NHS says more people donated than ever before in the UK - but it says many families are still not allowing their loved ones organs to be used.

    More than 300 successful transplants took place in our region last year.

  17. Sheffield has 'illegal' air pollution level

    A new report from the Environmental Audit Committee has found that Sheffield has pollution levels so high it breaks limits set by the EU.

    The report found that the government needs to do more to lower pollution levels with the introduction of things like ultra-low emission cars.

    Police in Barnsley are asking if you’ve seen or heard from 13-year-old Natasha Ford, who was reported missing last night.

    Natasha left the Spring Walk area of Wombwell at about 20:00 and has not been seen or heard from since, with her family saying it's out of character for her not to come home.

    Natasha is described as medium build with mousy brown, shoulder length hair.

  20. Virtual stampede starts in Sheffield

    People in Sheffield are being asked to take part in a 'virtual stampede' during September.

    The Sheffield Children's Hospital want people to run, swim, walk or cycle - or mix up the four - for a total of 60km across the month.

    Any money raised will go towards creating two new physiotherapy rooms in the new wing of the hospital.
