  1. Post update

    Football

Well that isn't going to win any games of the season awards. Awful.

On a positive note, it has given me a new-found appreciation for watching Last of the Summer Wine on a quiet Sunday at my grandparents.

I'm off to watch four blokes push a bath around a village in Yorkshire. See ya.

  2. 'We need to freshen up'

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

A bit more from West Brom boss Tony Pulis, this time speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we were good for the first 25 minutes and the game drifted away for us. We are trying our socks off to get players who in can make the difference.

"This group of lads have worked really hard since I've been here but we need to bring a few people in to give us a lift. I'd rather talk to the other managers and then I'll talk about it with you guys.

"I've said before we need five players to come in for the group because there's players here we need to move on who aren't going to play. There's 14 or 15 players who were here two years ago when we were struggling near the bottom who are fantastic and work so hard. But we need to freshen up"

When asked if striker Saido Berahino would remain at The Hawthorns, Pulis added: "We'll see in the next 48 hours."

  3. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

West Brom boss Tony Pulis: "I thought we played really well the first 25 minutes, we didn't get a goal and then it petered out. There are 14 players here from when I took over two years ago, but we are desperately keen to get five players in. We need that bit of quality, we are working hard and hopefully we can do it. This is a great group of players but we are squeezing everything out of them."

  4. 'Performance not great but the spirit was'

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, speaking to Match Of The Day: "I was really pleased because every single point in the Premier League is important. I am pleased because after our defeat in the cup it was important to play well. We didn't play how we like to play but we played with great spirit.

"It was a difficult game for both of us but a point is massive because in the Premier League every game is tough. To have five points on the table is good and we'd have taken that. Maybe today wasn't the best performance but the spirit was there. That's important.

"I am pleased with the job the club has done because we had pre-season with almost all the squad. We have worked well but even with new players we are compact. As a manager you are always expecting a surprise near the deadline. Part of that surprise is that sometimes other clubs ask for our players. But I am really calm. The club has working and ready if something happens."

  6. 'An important point'

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was an important point because after last Wednesday we played 120 minutes and lost the game. West Brom is a difficult place so I am pleased with the players.

"The discipline was good and the second half in particular it was not easy to play the way we wanted. But if you keep this spirit we will win games. This team has been fighting to get into the Premier League. We have learned that you always have to be 100% in this league. I am pleased we have a break to recover before the international break with five points.

"Now we are five points on the table because the club has done well in the transfer market. I have almost the squad I wanted in pre-season. Now it's just about adding the right players because the squad is almost full. The market is the market and surprises can happen."

  7. Post-match stats

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

    • West Brom have gone six Premier League games at home without a victory for the first time under Tony Pulis (D2 L4).
    • Middlesbrough have been involved in both of the PL games featuring the fewest shots on target this season (3 v Stoke City and 4 v West Brom).
    • Middlesbrough kept a clean sheet in a Premier League away game for the first time since October 2008 versus Wigan.
    • Under Tony Pulis, West Brom (8) have drawn more Premier League games 0-0 than any other team (10th January 2015 to present).
    • West Bromwich Albion have scored 55 goals in 59 Premier League matches under Tony Pulis (0.93 per game).
    • Jonathan Leko is the first Premier League player to be subbed on and then off again in the same game this season and the first since Joe Ledley vs Stoke in May 2016.
    • Daniel Ayala's booking on 68 seconds is the quickest this season in the PL and the quickest since Gary Cahill (44 seconds) versus Sunderland in May.
  8. 'I think we're happy'

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Boro midfielder Adam Forshaw, speaking to Sky Sports: "Maybe on another day we could have got the three points. Perhaps we could have got a few more crosses in the box and fed Alvaro Negredo a bit more.

"But I think we're happy. We have more than matched the pace of the Premier League. We have been under the cosh at times but we're enjoying it."

Xander Wingate: Albion could be in for a relegation fight at this rate. So little end product. Getting a rep for boring football is not good.

  10. 'We'd have snapped your hand off for this start'

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough captain Ben Gibson, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's important now that we've had three games unbeaten that we keep the momentum going. West Brom is not an easy place to come and we'll take that point.

"I think we'd have snapped your hand off for the start we have had. There's an adaptation period in the Premier League compared to the Championship and we've done it well so far. We got into a winning mentality and have to carry that on."

  11. Clean sheet kings

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

West Brom have kept 23 clean sheets in the Premier League since January 2015, only Arsenal (27) and Manchester United (25) have kept more.

Fans, though, will want more than just clean sheets. They'll want to be entertained. Will Tony Pulis get his wish and be able to splash the cash before the transfer window shuts?

Viktor Fischer is on for the briefest of debuts as he replaces Cristhian Stuani.

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Four minutes of injury time and there's a glimmer of hope that we may yet see a goal as Salomon Rondon forces his way to the edge of the box before cutting the ball back for Saido Berahino. Promising, but the striker takes too long and is eventually tackled.

Into the final minute and that sudden burst of excitement has taken its toll on the players. They have settled into the pattern of knocking the ball around in midfield once again.

  19. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

Stewart Downing's free-kick is cleared by the first man and West Brom charge up field. Salomon Rondon feeds Brendan Galloway inside the area and the full-back's ball across goal is cleared by Daniel Ayala, but not until after a bit of ping pong inside the Baggies box.

  20. SUBSTITUTION

    West Brom 0-0 Middlesbrough

There could be a decent finish to this game as Stewart Downing flashes an effort just wide of the far post. Both sides appear to be going for it now.

Middlesbrough add some fresh legs to the attack as David Nugent replaces Gaston Ramirez. Six minutes to make an impact.
