Military Wives choirs from around Yorkshire are taking to the stage in Bradford later this year as part of their Christmas tour.

The choirs based in York, Dishforth and Leeming will perform at Bradford Cathedral in November. 

The choirs are made up of wives and partners of servicemen and women - and have had two number one singles.  

There was no music, no introduction, no commentary and no adverts... so why did the two-hour TV special of a bus trip through the Yorkshire Dales prove so popular?

Meet Sarah Dransfield, she's a 21-year-old from Huddersfield who is going to be taking part in a 5,848-mile triathlon!

Sarah, who had her right leg amputated when she was 16, is doing it to raise money for The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.

TV presenter Charlie Webster, who contracted malaria in Brazil, is back in the UK and being treated at St James's Hospital in Leeds.

The 33-year-old, who's from Sheffield, fell ill during the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics. 

She'd just completed a 3,000-mile charity bike ride in aid of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. 

Her condition is described as "serious but stable".

West Yorkshire Police has been dealing with a big increase in the number of calls to its 999 emergency and 101 non-emergency numbers over the summer.

Tom Donohoe, head of the force's customer contact centre, said: “Since about May demand has picked up and is actually about 21% over what we normally anticipate – so that can be about 1,000 more calls a day.

“A mix of alcohol and hot weather means a lot of anti-social behaviour  calls.”

The force has recruited 46 new call handlers to ease the pressure. 

But they're also asking us to avoid calling the 101 non-emergency number between 16:00 and 19:00 because demand is so high.

"Love locks" are to be removed from a bridge in Leeds amid concerns they could cause damage.

The padlocks, inscribed with the names of people, usually couples, have been fastened to the Centenary Bridge.

In 2014, part of the Pont Des Arts bridge in Paris collapsed under the weight of thousands of padlocks attached to a parapet.

Ilkley Bowling Club is causing a stir in the town, because it excludes women from its bar area every weekday, Monday to Thursday. 

They're only allowed in after 17:00 on a Friday and at weekends. This has upset a few women in the area.

Just to be clear, this isn't against the law - a private members' club can set its own rules about who's eligible and who's not.

It just beggars belief really doesn't it?

Is dog poo on the streets one of your biggest bugbears? Well it turns out that 59% of people in Leeds feel the same.

A survey by the Dogs Trust has found that 20% of people they talked to come across dog muck in the city at least once a day and say the city may simply be "too polite and British" to tackle the problem. 

Believe it or not just under 10% of us have even admitted picking up poo from a stranger's pooch. Hats off to you if you do that. 

A woman in Huddersfield has been robbed in her own car by five men who followed her into a pub car park and pulled her from her vehicle.

The woman was driving along Wakefield Road last night when she saw a green Nissan Terrano driving erratically behind her.　

She then pulled into the car park of the Kaye Arms and the Nissan followed her. The five men, who were wearing balaclavas, then pulled her out of the vehicle and stole jewellery from her before driving off along Wakefield Road.

The car was abandoned and the suspects fled through nearby woods and onto the Morrisons car park in nearby Waterloo. The woman was left with minor injuries.
