A new art installation along Alexandra Street in Southend, Essex, has been unveiled by Mayor Judith McMahon (pictured below), local artists and a group of local residents from Project 49.

Project 49 commissioned an artist to work with a group of adults with learning disabilities to create colourful and dynamic artwork for display in the street.
Pete Shrimplin, co-ordinator of community inclusion at Project 49 said: "The team deliberated a number of ideas, eventually settling on a street gallery theme with individual pieces being framed and displayed on the hoarding of a construction site just opposite Project 49’s Offices.
"We contacted the builders and they kindly gave the project the green light.
"The idea was to brighten up the street, improve community spirit and to show that people with learning difficulties can and do make valuable contributions within their community."

Polish state TV is reporting that the Warsaw District attorney's office has launched an investigation into the death of Polish citizen Arkadiusz Jozwik in Harlow last Saturday.
They say that, under Polish law, foreigners who commit a crime to the detriment of Polish citizens are liable before the Polish courts.
It is independent of responsibility from the authorities of the country in which the crime has occurred.
They quote prosecutor James Romelczyk as saying that they will interview families of victims, and will also ask the UK authorities on the "circumstances of the event, to determine the perpetrators and bring them to criminal liability".
Quinlan Pringle death: Family offered support from Foreign Office
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has sent a message of support for the family of the 13-year-old boy who died after being swept out in the water at the French port of Boulogne.
The body of Quinlan Pringle, from Colchester, was found by fishermen days after he got into difficulties on 15 August. Two other boys he had been with were rescued.
A statement said: "We are continuing to support the family of a British national who died at sea off Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
"Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. We remain in close contact with the local authorities."
Quinlan Pringle 'will continue to be loved within the form'

His form tutor from the Philip Morant School in Colchester said: "Quinlan was a quiet, sensitive and considerate boy with a delightfully playful, yet unobvious, sense of humour.
"He was, and will continue to be, loved within the form and we will miss him hugely while trying to treasure many wonderful memories at this very sad time."
A man is wanted by police in connection with a number of offences including rape, false imprisonment, wounding, possession of a firearm, threats to kill and theft.

John Hewitt, 36, formerly of Dickson Road in Blackpool, also has links to Essex, Portsmouth, Wales, Norfolk, Thames Valley, Greater Manchester and London.
He is also known to go under the names of John Wilson, Dean McKenzie, John Burton and John Davies.
Incidents are reported to have taken place between June 2015 and July this year.

Four people have been arrested after a robbery at a Cartouche jewellery store in Tiptree.
Two masked men stole jewellery said to amount a five-figure sum yesterday.
Two of those questioned have since been released on police bail, while the two others remain in custody.
