    Team GB's Jazz Carlin said winning two silver medals at the Rio Olympics "has not sunk in yet".

    The swimmer, from Swindon, told the BBC's Alistair Durden it was "an amazing feeling".

    She added it made up for not being selected for the London 2012 games.

    Jazz won her medals in the 800m and 400m freestyle.

  4. Dujardin's fiancé spotted at Olympics with marriage plea sign

    The fiancé of Team GB rider Charlotte Dujardin was among the crowd in Rio, to see her win her third Olympic gold medal, wearing a sign on his T-shirt saying: "Can we get married now?"

    Dean Golding, a former long-distance runner, has been engaged to Dujardin since before the 2012 games.

    She said: "I've been engaged for a long time. There was competition after competition after London, but I will make sure it happens this time."

  6. Rainbow cloud spotted in Wiltshire

    Lucy Hart sent us this stunning photo she took of a rainbow cloud in Edington in Wiltshire at the weekend.

    We showed BBC Points West weatherman Ian Fergusson, who said it's an "optical artefact" caused by "refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds". 

    He added: "This particular variety is most often called a 'sun dog', but also known as Parhelia or 'mock suns'." 

    They are generally spotted when the sun is low - and can be extremely bright.

  9. Charlotte Dujardin wins third Olympic gold

    Gloucestershire-based Charlotte Dujardin becomes the second British woman to win three Olympic gold medals, after retaining her individual dressage title in Rio.

    "I feel a little bit overwhelmed," said a tearful Dujardin, who also won team dressage gold four years ago.

    "It means the absolute world to me to come out here and finish off being individual gold medallist again."

    James Sheppard from Marlborough said farm machinery has gone up in price since the pound decreased in value, and cereal prices have increased too.

  11. Clifton College publishes report after paedo teacher conviction

    A school in Bristol has published a report into its handling of any allegations regarding a former teacher and housemaster who was jailed for making, taking and possessing indecent images of children.

    Clifton College said it was "deeply sorry" for the "exploitative and criminal behaviour" of Jonathan Thomson-Glover, who was sent to prison last year.

    It said since his conviction, the college had "examined every process from a new viewpoint, determined to make the safeguarding of our pupils a paramount concern”.

    A Somerset truffle farmer believes she's found the UK's first truffle of the season, thanks to her dog.

    Truffles are usually found in the autumn but Marion Dean's pet pooch Mufty recently sniffed out a 78g beauty.

  13. Popular Glastonbury mural to remain

    A colourful mural in Glastonbury, Somerset, is allowed to remain where it is after an online petition to save it received more than 3,500 signatures.

    Mendip District Council said the mural can remain on the listed building in Northload Street for two years, after which time the situation will be reviewed.

    It planned to remove the "unauthorised" artwork but backtracked as "the mural had been, and continues to be, appreciated by locals and tourists alike".

  16. Book a driving test today - you'll get a date in November

    Driving instructors across the West are calling on the government to employ more examiners, to speed up the time it takes to book a test. 

    Some local pupils are waiting up to four months for a slot, and if they fail at the first attempt, it can be a similar delay for a retest. 

    Driving instructor, Jude Cecil, said it is very difficult to assess pupils that far in advance.

  17. Rio 2016: West country medals update

    The Olympic medal count for the West continues to grow after yet more success at the weekend. 

    Nailsworth rower Pete Reed claimed gold in the men's eight. 

    In the pool Swindon's Jazz Carlin won her second silver medal of the games, as did James Guy in the relay while Chris Walker-Hebborn picked up his first.

  18. New RNLI lifeboat for Burnham-on-Sea after £48,000 raised

    An appeal to buy a new lifeboat for the Burnham-on-Sea area has reached nearly £50,000 in a year.

    It means the RNLI will now be able to buy a new D-Class lifeboat so crews will have the right facilities to enable them to continue to save lives.

    It is due on station in September and it will be officially named Burnham Reach in a ceremony next April.

  19. Bulgaria death: Victim was 'top family man'

    The friends and family of a Swindon man who died in hospital in Bulgaria at the weekend are considering how to bring his body home.

    Michael Doyle, 29, died on Saturday after becoming seriously ill on holiday last month and his medical bills have run into tens of thousands of pounds.

    His friend Vince Conti says they've been friends for a long time and described him as a "top family man".
