Rooney is England's only leader - Savage

Former Wales international Robbie Savage believes Wayne Rooney should remain England captain because he is the only leader in the squad.

New England boss Sam Allardyce confirmed he will name his captain by the end of the week and Savage feels England's all-time leading goalscorer is the favourite to keep the armband.

He said: "Looking at that squad I can only really see one leader at the minute - and that is Rooney. I cannot see another one in the team looking at that game against Iceland, where were the leaders?"
