Ambulance response times in East Yorkshire in spotlight

Ambulance response times in parts of East Yorkshire have declined over the first six months of this year.
Graham Stuart, the MP for Beverley and Holderness, says he has been given figures which show just half of emergencies were responded to within the target of eight minutes.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service say they aim to reach all patients as quickly as possible, but demand is increasing.

He says times have "slumped sharply" in the first half of this year and he claims there was a sharp decline in Beverley, Hornsea and Withernsea too.
It comes a week after Yorkshire Ambulance Service apologised after an ambulance took more than an hour to reach an eighty-five year old woman who fell and hurt herself in Market Weighton.
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service says they aim to reach all patients as quickly as possible, but demand is increasing.

North Lincolnshire woman dies after car crash

A woman from North Lincolnshire has died after a car crash near Caistor on Sunday.
73-year-old Marlene Hadley, 73, from North Killingholme died from her injuries.
Four other people were injured in the crash. Three suffered serious injuries and two others minor injuries.

Council Deputy leader insists 'books will be balanced'

The deputy leader of Hull City Council says the authority aims to balance the books before the end of the year
A report from The Director of Finance at the council says the authority is not financially viable if overspending continues at its current rate.
His comments specifically relate to its largest two services; Adult Social Care and Children's Safeguarding
But deputy leader Darren Hale says although the report shows a predicted overspend now, the council has plans to decrease that by the end of the year:
Hull City progress into next round of EFL Cup

Adama Diomande scored twice as Hull City battled past League Two's Exeter City in the EFL Cup second round.
The hosts took the lead with Jake Taylor's stunning long-range strike but Diomande equalised for the Premier League side within two minutes.
Joel Grant fired wide for the Grecians before Diomande turned and finished in the area for his second.
Substitute Robert Snodgrass' late 25-yard free-kick secured the Tigers' place in round three.

The owner of the Cleethorpes Donkeys says he's considered taking the animals away from the resort after their enclosure was vandalised.
All but two of the donkeys were chased from their pens on Monday night.
Their owner John Nuttall say the animals were traumatised by the experience.
