"I was just thinking, gosh, I've got to beat her by 10 seconds. Toni [her coach] told me to give it everything, and that's what I did.
"The better heptathlete won, Thiam was on fire through all of her events. She's an incredible talent and she deserves that gold medal.
"It's going to be a tough decision, I'm going to go away and think about it. At this moment, I'm tired and emotional, it's a big decision.
"What I achieved in 2012 was so special...London 2017 would be incredible to go to, but this event is so draining. I need to go away and decide."

A comfortable 2-0 win over Colombia sees Brazil through to the semi-finals of the football along with Nigeria, Germany and Honduras.
Neymar's freekick and Luan's finish five minutes from time seals the deal for the hosts. After their shocking start it's looking good for the hosts.

"I don't even know how I did this! I knew I was in good form and just tried to focus on each event individually.
"In the 800m I was just trying not to let Jess go, I thought I could do 2:15 or 16 and not let her go too far. I guess my life is going to change, I am still at university so maybe I have a decision to make!"

It sounds to me like it is done. Why would you come back? You have had an Olympic gold in her home Olympics and she would have to go out and train every day for a year for next year.
She won at the Olympics, so the World Championships in London will pale in comparison.

"It was very lucky that the fall came early on in the race."
