Silver Apples live session

Marc Riley has a session from electronic pioneers Silver Apples.

Marc has a session by legendary electronic pioneers the Silver Apples.

Before Depeche Mode, before Suicide, before Kraftwerk, before anyone, there were the Silver Apples.

Electronic pioneers the Silver Apples formed in 1967 as a duo featuring Dan Taylor on drums and Simeon on a homemade synthesizer consisting of 12 oscillators and an assortment of sound filters, telegraph keys, radio parts, lab gear and second hand electronic junk.

Their first full-length album was released in 1968 on KAPP Records. This self-titled debut was followed by Contact in 1969, but a third album, Garden, recorded in 1970 wasn't officially released until 1998 after their record label folded and they disbanded.

In 1996, Simeon re-activated Silver Apples, recording and performing with many musician friends and admirers. However since 2005, when Danny Taylor, unexpectedly passed away Simeon has worked as a solo performer, with Danny's drum sounds recreated by electronic means. He is about to embark on a UK tour to promote 'Clinging To A Dream' the first Silver Apples album in 19 years.
