  2. Former Rotherham boss takes Eastleigh FC job

    Former Rotherham United player and manager Ronnie Moore has joined Vanarama National League side Eastleigh FC as their new boss.

    The BBC Radio Sheffield pundit joined the Spitfires this afternoon and says he's proud to be at the helm.

  4. Former Sports Minister calls for celebrations following Olympic success

    Team GB’s remarkable Olympic success in Brazil should be celebrated in a series of events across the country, says former Sports Minister Richard Caborn.

    Mr Caborn, who used to be MP for Sheffield, says he'd like to see regional celebrations, as Britain sit second in the medal table having taken 56 medals.

  6. Watch: New police dogs put through their paces in Sheffield

    South Yorkshire Police have been putting their latest recruits through their paces at Sheffield Interchange.

    The dogs, that specialise in finding drugs,  are put into a 'live' environment to make it as real as they can before they're used on the streets.

  7. Rotherham mosque thought to be one of several locations to receive threats

    We told you earlier that a man has been arrested by anti-terror police investigating a bomb threat sent to a mosque in Rotherham.

    It's now emerged police believe the letter sent to the Jamia Masjid Abu Bakr mosque in Eastwood, Rotherham, on 1 August is one of a number sent to locations around England.

    These include religious establishments, police stations and residential addresses in South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Bedfordshire and Avon and Somerset.

    There's quite a bit of traffic from junction 32 of the M1 and it's slow going.

  9. Strong winds warning issued for South Yorkshire

    Tonight, a spell of unseasonably strong winds, accompanied by heavy, blustery showers, is expected to reach the south- west of the UK during the early hours of Saturday.

    Throughout Saturday, it will move across many parts of England and Wales with winds expected to be about 40-50mph.

  10. Delays on public transport after car gets stuck on tram route

    There's problems on public transport this afternoon after a car was stuck on the kerb at Netherthorpe.

    The car blocked one lane of traffic and the tram line and meant trams had to terminate at Cathedral.

    It's now been moved, but there's likely to be delays as the service gets back to timetable.

  12. Theresa May backs Osborne's 'Northern Powerhouse'

    Theresa May has vowed to press ahead with George Osborne's "Northern Powerhouse" despite having fired him as chancellor.

    In a Yorkshire Post article, the prime minister promised to "help the great cities and towns of the North pool their strengths and take on the world".

    This includes backing a bid to bring cycling's world championships to Yorkshire.

    The Northern Powerhouse is the name attached to the government's bid to create a rival economy to London and the South East in the north of England.

    It involves devolving new powers from Whitehall, improving transport links and creating new regional mayors to act as figureheads for their regions.

  13. Yorkshire are 14th in the medal table!

    Well, with a dozen medals, they sit above Usain Bolt's Jamaica and host nation Brazil.

  15. Man arrested after mosque bomb threat

    A 43-year-old man has been arrested after a bomb threat was sent to a Rotherham mosque.

    This is the Jamia Mosque on Russell Street, in Eastwood.

    The man from Plymouth has been arrested under the Malicious Communications Act by officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit.

  16. M1 slow after double breakdown

    The M1 southbound is slow after a broken down vehicle is blocking the exit sliproad at junction 32 for the M18.

    There's a second breakdown between junction 31 at Sheffield and junction 30 at Worksop also going southbound.

  18. Woodhead Pass closed after lorry crash

    The A628 Woodhead Pass in Dunford Bridge is closed after an accident involving a lorry.

    There is queuing traffic in both directions at the Dunford Bridge turn off because of the crash.
