  2. Two plead guilty to Shipley Airedale Road double death crash

    Two drivers today pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of a cab driver and his passenger in an horror crash on a Bradford road.

    Manningham Taxis driver Mirza Abdul Malick, 64, and his passenger, former antiques restorer Paul Hayward, 55, died at the scene after the three-car crash on the A650 Shipley Airedale Road, just before 11:00 on Saturday January 2 this year.

    A fine end to the day with warm sunny spells. Overnight, things should stay dry with long clear periods. A few short-lived mist and fog patches develop around dawn. Lows of 11C (52F).

    Another warm and dry day with plenty of sunshine, some patchy cloud drifting inland along the coast where it will feel fresher. Maximum temperature inland of 24C (75F).

  6. Two West Yorkshire hospitals told to improve by health inspectors

    Inspectors say hospitals in Huddersfield and Halifax are not good enough and need to improve.

    The Care Quality Commission has raised concerns about maternity services at Calderdale Royal Hospital where some women said they felt unsupported. 

    Inspectors acknowledge that  community services offered by the hospitals are good, especially work being done to cut GP call-outs and the number of people going to A&E.

    Both emergency departments, which are at the centre of controversial re-organisation plans, have also been rated as good.

  9. Police launch new appeal on historic Bradford murder

    Twenty five years to the day since father-of-two Brendan Penn was killed in Bradford police are launching a new appeal for information.

    Senior West Yorkshire officers say they are urgently reviewing the killing of 22-year-old, who died in August 1991. 

    Brendan was attacked in Great Horton in 1991 and despite a number of arrests, his killer has never been found.

  10. Bradford City: Injured duo Morais and Dieng could be fit for MK Dons clash

    Bradford City assistant manager Kenny Blacks says injured duo Filipe Morais and Timothee Dieng have an outside chance of being fit for tomorrow's trip to MK Dons.

    McCall's squad should go into Tuesday's encounter with MK Dons full of confidence following Saturday's morale-boosting victory over Peterborough United.

    Black added that the club is not expecting to sign a new striker before the match.

  11. Man's body found in West Yorkshire reservoir search

    A man's body's been recovered by police officers searching for a car which left the road and went into the water at Booth Wood Reservoir.

    The driver, a local man in his 30's, was the only one in the car travelling along Oldham Road towards Rishworth, West Yorkshire.

    Police arrived at the reservoir near the Turnpike Public House at about 20:20 yesterday evening.

  12. Couple funded luxury lifestyle from cannabis farm hidden under patio

    A couple funded a luxury lifestyle from the proceeds of a cannabis farm hidden beneath the patio of their comfortable suburban family home, a court heard. 

    Police found thousands of pounds worth of original artwork, expensive furniture, an Audi A5 with a personalised number plate and evidence of trips to Disneyland and Tenerife when they executed a search warrant at the home of Christopher and Rachel Goodwin.

    Walls near Keighley that were badly damaged by the Boxing Day floods are being rebuilt.

    There are fears the walls on main roads in Silsden could completely collapse if there were any repeat of the flooding.

    It'll mean the closure of Bradley Road for twelve weeks and roadworks on Keighley Road for around six months, although it won't be closed. 

     The council says it knows this will be inconvenient - but if the work isn't done, people's safety will be at risk, and the roads might have to be shut for a long time.

  15. Man hurt in Huddersfield dog attack

    A man's been seriously injured in a dog attack in the Sheepridge area of Huddersfield. 

    Police were called to Riddings Road at about  09:50 today where they found a man in his fifties with serious bites to his body.

    The dog, thought to be a Staffordshire bull terrier type, has been found and a man believed to be the dog's owner arrested. 

    The victim of the attack is being treated in hospital.

  18. Watch: Meet the Pudsey man who is going to drastic lengths to carry on walking

    A man from Leeds with multiple sclerosis has travelled to Mexico - for pioneering treatment he can't get on the NHS. 

    The stem cell treatment is actually being trialled in Sheffield - but only for patients in early stages. 

    Tim Thomson - from Pudsey - has a progressive form of the disease, so doesn't qualify.

  19. Police e-fit appeal after Shipley robbery

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a mobile phone was stolen in Shipley.

    At about 18:00 on Sunday 7 August, a 32-year-old woman was walking along the canal path behind Valley Road in Shipley when she was approached by a male and female.

    The male made demands for the woman's phone and then snatched it out of her hand.
