Pedestrian Jennifer Lowden, 72, died after being hit by a car in Torpoint on Monday afternoon. Her Cockapoo Barney ran off after being hurt in the crash.

The heartbreaking story was widely shared on social media after Torpoint Police made an appeal on their Facebook page.

Supporters and opponents of a plan to build a new nuclear power plant in the South West are waiting to hear if there's yet another delay to the project.

The board of French company EDF, which owns the site, was to vote on a final investment decision, but that's reportedly been taken off the agenda amid concerns about financing. 

The closure of a walk-in health centre in Cornwall will help improve services at the Camborne/Redruth Community Hospital, the NHS says.

A councillor has criticised the move, saying there had not been enough public consultation. 

The NHS said the move would "prevent confusion" and help ensure people would know where to go "should ... they need urgent - but not emergency - medical treatment."

At Prime Minister's Questions, Mr Cameron said: "We need to find the funding to make this work. We can't have happen what happened in the past where a problem with the railway led to the peninsula being cut off."

Torquay United have sold top scorer Tyrone Marsh to National League rivals Dover for an undisclosed free, after the striker handed in a transfer request earlier this week.

He is the second forward to move away from Plainmoor today, with Waide Fairhurst leaving for personal reasons.

A group campaigning on behalf of one of Torbay's most historic houses says it's saddened by a legal battle over its future. 

Oldway Mansion has been standing empty for the last three years, despite a contract being signed between a developer and the council, to turn it into a hotel. Now the developer says it's suing Torbay Council for £8m in a row over the leases. The council says it will defend its position "robustly".

The Friends of Oldway group said they hoped the dispute would be resolved as soon possible so that restoration work can begin. 

British skeleton racer David Swift, from Newton Abbot, who's aiming for a spot in the GB team at the 2018 Winter Olympics, has won gold in a Europa Cup event in Switzerland. 

Calls by Cornwall Council call for devolved police powers are not "the right path" and were "unlikely to be an efficient or effective solution", the Devon and Cornwall Police Commissioner (PCC) says.

The unitary authority said it would lobby for more powers because of government proposals which could see fire service control transferred to the police commissioner.

Tony Hogg said the council was "entitled to its view", but added: "Government policy on policing governance is clear - that responsibility should rest with a single accountable elected representative of the people - be that a PCC or an elected mayor."

Firms in Devon are to be charged if they repeatedly call the fire service for broken lift rescues.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service said it cost £303 for each one-hour call out using one appliance and the move would save £30,000 a year. Neil Blackburn, from the service, added it would only charge "businesses where there are persistent problems."

Striker Waide Fairhurst has left National League strugglers Torquay United for personal reasons.

The 26-year-old made only three substitute appearances for the Devon side after suffering a knee injury at the start of the season.
