  2. Colourful bike trail welcomes the Tour of Britain to Bath

    More than 50 businesses are taking part in a brightly-coloured cycle trail to welcome The Tour of Britain to Bath.

    Thousands of spectators are expected to watch Stage 5 of the Tour as it finishes on Royal Avenue below the iconic Royal Crescent on 8th September.

    Businesses are displaying red, white and blue bikes outside or inside their premises for the next three weeks.  

  3. Police hope for no more 'unpleasant discoveries' in Bath

    A renewed search of an area around Weston Park in Bath concluded earlier with "no new discoveries".

    Three human feet have been found in the area since the start of the year.

  4. 'I'm ok' says Olympic BMX'er from Burnham-on-Sea

    The 27-year-old was forced to withdraw from the quarter-finals of the Olympic BMX after a heavy fall.  

    Phillips was involved in a crash before a collision with another rider pushed him off the track in the first of a three-race heat at the Rio Games.

  5. Hundreds flock to enjoy Olympics in Bristol

    It's the last few days for the "Official Team GB FanZone" in Bristol's Millennium Square. The screen has been showing coverage of Team GB's athletes at the Rio Olympics.

  11. Richard Branson's Virgin Care chosen as service provider for Bath and NE Somerset

    Children's and adult services in Bath and North East Somerset will be run by Richard Branson's company Virgin Care.

    The private firm's been given a 10-year contract worth £700m pounds to run things like district nursing, dementia care and supporting vulnerable children. 

    The contract will start from April 2017.

  12. The crash that ended Liam's Olympic dream

    Liam Phillips, from Burnham-on-Sea, had a strong start in his first heat of the BMX Men's quarter-finals but suffered a heavy crash after the first corner.

    Now the 27-year-old has been forced to withdraw from the event - and his second Olympic Games.

  13. Why do feet keep turning up in Bath?

    A search has again been taking place in Weston Park, Bath, by police investigating the discovery of three "preserved" human feet.

    The first turned up inside the park in February, the second and third were found in nearby gardens in July and earlier this month.

    Police say they do not think there is anything sinister behind the finds but they are continuing to investigate why they keep appearing.

    Liam Phillips has suffered a heavy fall in his first quarter final heat. 

    After going down, another rider fell into him and pushed Liam off the track and down a drop of about 10 or 12 feet.

    Sir Chris Hoy, six-time Olympic cycling champion, said Liam has not had a great deal of good luck this season.

    "It looks like the stretcher is coming out now. It was a really heavy impact. It looked pretty grim," he added.

  17. Severed human feet in Bath: 'No evidence of any crime'

    Police in Bath investigating the discovery of three severed human feet this year say there is no evidence so far that a crime has been committed.

    Today detectives and sniffer dogs were searching Weston Park in an attempt to close the investigation.

    Det Insp Paul Catton said although forensic tests are continuing, expert scientific opinion so far suggests the remains are educational samples. 

    "I would appeal to anyone who has any evidence about the source of these remains to get in touch. We’re doing what we can to protect the public from making any more of these unpleasant discoveries," he added.
