  1. Five things we've learnt in North Yorkshire today

    Jim Addyman

    BBC Local Live, York

That's all for today - thanks for being with us. We'll be back at 07:00 on Tuesday morning.

In the meantime, here are five things we've learnt today:

    1. Maintenance records show that problems with York's Foss flood barrier were highlighted two years ago.

    2. North Yorkshire has been getting in on the gold medal action in Rio with Andy Triggs Hodge.

    3. The NFU wants to hear how North Yorkshire farmers see their future as we head towards Brexit.

    4. Local residents in Harrogate can find out about plans for 1,000 homes in Flaxby Park

    5. City of York Council has some novel new ways of dealing with the goose problem in Rowntrees Park.

I'll leave you with lovely pic of Bolton Bridge sent in by BBC Weather Watcher Moorsider:

  2. Fleshing things out at York Art Gallery

    YorkMix

Flesh - human and animal, alive and dead, familiar and strange - it's always been a major subject for artists - sometimes educational, sometimes provoking. Now it's the subject of a major new exhibition at York Art Gallery.

  3. Scarborough's Civil War siege re-staged by Sealed Knot

Scarborough Castle underwent a trip back in time at the weekend as The Sealed Knot, the oldest re-enactment society in the UK, relived the Great Siege of 1645.

The siege was a major conflict for control of one of England's most important stone fortresses during the English Civil War.

It saw Parliamentarians lay siege to Scarborough Castle for five months, bombarding it until the keep was all but destroyed.

Just over 370 years later, and thanks to the re-enactors, it's taken place all over again:

  4. City council take a gander at geese problem

    The Press

Council officials hope they have found a short-term solution to combat geese mess in a popular York park, trialling a new piece of equipment to clean up goose droppings in Rowntree Park.

  5. York City: McNamara wants to up the tempo

    BBC Sport

York City will "work to get the fear out of their play", according to manager Jackie McNamara.

He's looking for his team to play with more pace, after seeing them draw 1-1 with Boreham Wood on Saturday at Bootham Crescent.

McNamara's told BBC Radio York: "They're fighting and the spirit's there."

  8. Future of Flaxby golf club site under scrutiny

    Harrogate Informer

The future of the former Flaxby Park golf club site, near Harrogate, may become clearer at a public meeting tonight.

A property development company,  Flaxby Park Ltd, bought the 280-acre site adjacent to the junction of the A59 and the A1, from liquidators.

    Flaxby Park

It's though the new plans will include the building of a small community of about 1,000 homes.

The golf club closed its doors in March 2015 after its parent company collapsed.

  9. Holding back the years? Simply Red's Scarborough sojourn

    Jim Addyman

    BBC Local Live, York

Manchester's soulful popsters Simply Red were the latest big name act to play Scarborough's Open Air Theatre on Friday.

    Simply Red

Led by flame-haired mainman Mick Hucknall, they played a procession of hits including A New Flame In Town and Something Got Me Started.

The band also played an acoustic version of Holding Back The Years with Hucknall playing guitar.

  10. Foss Barrier: Environment Agency denies neglect

    Georgey Spanswick

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

The reliability of the pumping station at York's Foss Barrier was rated at just 59%, instead of the standard 95%, in 2014 and 2015, BBC Radio York has discovered.

Hundreds of homes alongside the Foss were flooded in December 2015 when the river burst its banks and repair work on the flood defence will be ongoing until November 2017

The Environment Agency says the rating refers to the difficulty of replacing ageing equipment - but does not mean the barrier was unreliable.

Tony Andryzewski, flood defence engineer with the Environment Agency and manager for the repair of the Foss Barrier, explains more here:

  11. Man dies in car crash near Acaster Malbis

A 35-year-old man's died after the car he was driving hit a hedgerow near Acaster Malbis at the weekend.

The crash happened at about 11:35 on Sunday morning as the man, who was alone in the vehicle, was driving a yellow MG Midget car on Intake Lane.

He lost control, left the road and collided with the hedgerow, police believe.

As a result, the man, from the Hovingham area, was fatally injured.

  12. Jack Laugher and the search for Rio gold: Easier second time around?

    Jonathan Cowap

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

It appears that, thanks to the Olympics, Britain is suddenly a nation of winners, as opposed to the more usual gracious losers or the "It's not the winning it's the taking part" mantra.

But what's going on and what's changed?

Doctor Andrew Hill, an Associate Professor of Health and Life Sciences at York St John University, specialising in sports psychology, has told me he believes winning is contagious.

Doctor Hill says that's something which will help Ripon's Jack Laugher in his quest for a second diving gold at the Olympics:

  13. A riot of colour in Harrogate for Britain in Bloom judges

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Harrogate always looks good - but there'll be an extra sparkle today.

That's because Britain in Bloom judges are in town. They'll be taken on a tour to see the area.

I've also been in town to check out what Harrogate in Bloom have in store for the judges - and it's safe to say things are looking good out there:

  14. Cricket: Roses match, Day Three

    BBC Sport

Yorkshire are currently striving to get back on terms with Lancashire in the County Championship at Old Trafford.

After an even contest on Saturday, Lancashire's lower order put them in a powerful position on Sunday with Arron Lilley hitting 45 from just 39 balls.

Jordan Clark was unbeaten on 84 not out as the Red Rose county ended their first innings 494 all out.

In reply, Yorkshire will resume play at 11:00 on 136 for 2, with Alex Lees (pictured) 62 not out.

  18. Listen: Andy Triggs Hodge's golden moment

    Georgey Spanswick

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

The weekend was full of gold medals for Team GB at the Rio Olympics.

One of those celebrating on Saturday was, of course, North Yorkshire rower Andy Triggs Hodge.

Andy, from Hebden near Grassington in the Dales, was part of the crew that won the Men's Eights race alongside former York City rower Tom Ransley.

Typically modest, Triggs Hodge praised his team mates:
