  1. Guess what...

....it's that time of day again when we have to wave goodbye to you.

But you can scroll down for more on the future of clubbing after Fabric's closure (and the campaign to reverse the decision), Usher gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Lady Gaga lands a job with Radio 1, Drake and Kanye team up for a new album and there's new music from Madness and OneRepublic.

We'll be back with New Music Friday tomorrow.

  2. Izzy Stradlin reacts to Axl Rose's Guns N' Roses interview

Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke and Izzy Stradlin

On Tuesday's Music News LIVE, we told you all about Axl Rose and Duff McKagan giving a rare interview since the Guns N'Roses reunion at Coachella and their subsequent Not In This Lifetime US tour.

Well, one of the things discussed in the interview was the absence of the band's original guitarist Izzy Stradlin (pictured top right) from the line-up.

Axl claimed: "We make arrangements, and then he goes and does other things. With Izzy, you never know what to expect.”

Now Izzy has had his say on the matter, tweeting with some colourful language (you have been warned): "They didn't want to split the loot equally. Simple as that. Moving right along..."

That band does love a bit of drama.

  3. Fabric to appeal against closure with the help of crowdfunding

    The door of Fabric nightclub

A quick update on London nightclub Fabric now, which had its licence revoked earlier this week after a review following the deaths of two clubbers (scroll down to the bottom of the page for much more on this).

Fabric will appeal against Islington council's decision with a crowdfunded legal fight, according to dance music publication Mixmag.

The magazine's website said the Fund for Fabric campaign - set up by the Night Time Industries Association (NITA) - will seek to raise up to £500,000 to cover the club's legal fees.

NTIA Deputy Chair and owner of Camden's Proud nightspot, Alexander Proud, told Mixmag he would donate £10,000 to the Fund For Fabric.

The NTIA will also call on its members as well as the 150,000 people who signed the #SaveFabric petition to donate to the fund.

Proud said the money raised will "keep fabric going until the appeal and make sure that we have the best QC [senior lawyer] in the world working for us and winning this case, which we will do.”

He added: "Fabric is one of the greatest clubs in the world and I don’t want to see it close on my watch... I want my kids to go to a brilliant club that’s internationally famous and is on their doorstep."

  4. Wolf Alice doc to premiere at London Film Festival

    Wolf Alice

By now they're well used to being on festival bills, but Wolf Alice have just been added to the line-up of the London Film Festival, where a documentary about the band will get its world premiere.

Esteemed director Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, The Trip) will debut his film On The Road, which follows the Brit and Grammy nominated British band on tour.

Following the release of their Mercury Prize-nominated debut album My Love is Cool in Summer 2015, Winterbottom joined the band on the road for sixteen different gigs to capture the realities of being on stage and their daily life behind the scenes.

Recording the tour from the point of view of "a new member of their crew", we're told it is "a refreshingly unusual one with unexpected twists".

Here's what Winterbottom says about the film's origins:

Quote Message: The starting point for the film was a long time ago in a bar in New York when we met up with a band called Ash. They told us all about their life on the road - an endless string of festivals and gigs. It sounded romantic and terrible at the same time. I was curious to try and make a film about that sort of life.

The film will premiere as part of the film festival's Sonic Strand on Sunday 9 October at BFI Southbank.

  5. Joan Armatrading to be honoured for her creativity

    Joan Armatrading

Folk star Joan Armatrading is being honoured with a prestigious Artists’ Artist Award in recognition of her 44 year career.

The award, handed out by the Board of the Featured Artist Coalition, has been given to Massive Attack, Placebo and Robbie Williams in the past.

It honours artists who "embody creativity" over a long and sustained career.

The Grammy-nominated singer has recorded 22 albums since 1972.

The award will be handed out at the Artist and Manager Awards ceremony at The Troxy in London on 24 November.

The board called her "a truly brilliant artist":

Quote Message: Her music spans genres, her voice timeless and her presence and longevity as a live performer and the contemporary resonance of her catalogue is undeniable. Her voice is spell-binding and has managed that very rare thing, to maintain influence on many artists whilst seemingly to have a sort of self-deprecation and love of music that suggests she really is all about the music and the art.
  6. Madness unveil Mr Apples promo

Madness have unveiled the new video for Mr Apples their first new release in three years.

The promo has been directed by Chris ‘Chrissy Boy’ Foreman and Jim Canty, who have previously worked with Twin Atlantic and Biffy Clyro.

It features the eponymous Mr Apples - devout church-goer by day, thrill-seeking miscreant by night.

It's the first single to be taken from the band's album, Can't Touch Us Now, which is due out on 28 October.

  8. Kanye confirms Drake collaboration album

    Drake, Kanye West

In today's other Drake news (scroll down for details of a theft on his tour bus), Kanye West has confirmed the pair are working on a collaborative album together.

Kanye did subtly tease the union on a billboard in Los Angeles last month, which showed his GOOD Music record label logo with Drake's OVO emblem, but this is the first time he's spoken of it.

"We're just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio," he told fashion bible Vogue as he debuted his Yeezy Season 4 collection.

"We're working on an album, so there's some exciting things coming up soon."

Outside of the studio, the rapper also confirmed he and wife Kim are working on a kids clothing line.

“We’ve had to make all these clothes from scratch for North and for Saint,” he said.

“And in the process it was just inevitable that we make kids’ clothes. With me and my wife, we have a different perspective on the way that kids swag out. And it’s all just slowly coming together.”

"The way that kids swag out" being our favourite phrase of the day so far...

The UK dates are 27 April at Glasgow SSE Hydro, 28 April at Manchester Arena and the 1 June at London's O2 - over to Shawn...

Quote Message: I’m so excited for the Illuminate World Tour and to head to the UK for the shows there. The British fans have been so supportive and this will be my first time headlining in Scotland and Manchester, as well as The O2 in London. I can’t wait!

He's headlining New York's famous and huge Madison Square Garden venue this Saturday, playing new music from the album for the first time.

  10. Paul Walker Fast and Furious tribute song reaches two billion YouTube views

    The Hollywood Reporter

    Wiz Khalifa

See You Again rapper Wiz Khalifa's tribute to actor Paul Walker has become only the second song to reach two billion views on YouTube.

The track from Furious 7, featuring Charlie Puth, was released in March 2015 in tribute to the film franchise's late star who died in a car accident in 2013.

It is second only to Psy's Gangnam Style which made the same milestone in June 2014.

The track was used in the final scene of the film, as Walker's character drives off into retirement.

  11. Man arrested after $3m jewellery goes missing from Drake tour bus

    TMZ

    Drake

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a reported $3m (£2.25m) worth of jewellery was taken from a tour bus being used by Drake and DJ Future the Prince while they were performing in Phoenix, Arizona.

Travion King was charged with burglary and police subsequently recovered the jewels.

Officers said they identified King as the suspect through surveillance footage at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, where the gig was taking place.

They then learned he was already in custody after being arrested for trespassing on Arizona State University later that night.

Apparently the bling didn't belong to Drake.

    View more on twitter

The Bestival gates are now open on the Isle of the Wight with the likes of Major Lazer, The Cure and Hot Chip all set to play the festival over the next four days.

Also on the line-up this year is Truth AMW, aka 25-year-old James Ellis from Nottingham, who will become the first disabled rapper to perform at the festival.

Ellis was born with cerebral palsy and was given the opportunity to perform after founder Rob da Bank saw a video of him and teamed up with the charity Fixers.

"Honestly speaking, I never thought it would happen," Ellis told Radio 1's Newsbeat.

"I was born with cerebral palsy. It means my limbs are quite stiff and it decreases my mobility.

"I've never let anything hold me back in life. I went to university and am now pursuing a career in music."

Newsbeat went to meet him at his home in Nottingham as he rehearsed for the festival...

    A combined pre-tax total of $4.5 billion (£3.37bn) between 1 June 2015 and 1 June 2016 to be exact.

  16. Thom Yorke is 'over' new ways to release music

Don't expect Radiohead to blaze any more trails when it come to releasing new music because Thom Yorke is apparently over all that.

The singer was a co-host of Benji B's Radio 1 show and was surprisingly candid when asked about the release of his new solo album.

His band pioneered release models such as pay-what-you-want and using services like BitTorrent.

Listen to the clip below to hear a thoroughly fed-up sounding Thom:

  17. What does Fabric's closure mean for the UK club scene?

A note on flowers left outside Fabric

The strength of feeling about the closure of London nightclub Fabric is still running high after yesterday's news its licence has been revoked by Islington Council, following the deaths of two clubbers.

Fans have been leaving flowers at the door of the club and a Facebook page has been launched to help organise protests.

BBC Music reporter Mark Savage has been looking into what the closure of the venue means for the wider UK club scene.

"This is a watershed moment for London and Britain," said Alan Miller, chairman of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA).

"On the basis of what they've done in Fabric, they can close every single bar, club and licensed premises in the UK."

Read the full report with contributions from club owners, DJs, Mixmag and a drugs charity.

You can also read more on the Fabric closure here:

Meanwhile drum and bass DJ Goldie shared his views with Channel 4 News on Wednesday night, likening the club to "a religion" and threatening to melt down his MBE in protest at the closure.

  18. Usher gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

    Usher

The R&B singer was joined by celeb pals including Stevie Wonder, Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am, Miguel and Kelly Rowland.

"It is because of you guys that I have this moment. It is because of you that this shining star will be here and I leave it up to you - it's your responsibility - to come down here every chance you get to shine my star," he joked.

"Hey listen, that's the smallest thing that I could ask of you right now, especially given the fact that I'm going to be walked on."

The 37-year-old has won eight Grammy Awards and sold more than 65 million albums worldwide.

Last week, he performed in Los Angeles for Radio 1's Live Lounge Month and you can check out his cover of Chainsmokers Don't Let Me Down below...
