Town council insist country park remains in the community
Gill Sennett
BBC Local Live, East Yorkshire and Humber
Town councillors in Hessle say the Humber Bridge Country Park should be kept as a community asset and not sold off.
It's after the Humber Bridge Board wrote to East Riding Council saying they were interested in buying the land if it came up for sale.
The East Riding Council say that "at no point in time have they suggested or discussed in any form the sale of the Humber Bridge Country Park to any party and it is not their intention to do so".
Last month Hessle Town Council rejected plans for a new tourist centre, a glass elevator for the North tower, and a viewing platform on the bridge.
