Have you ever heard of the old wive's tale that rain can make your aches and pains worse? Well it could be true!

Early results from a study by the University of Manchester shows that there is actually a link between weather conditions and changes in pain levels. 

Researchers have so far found that 100 participants in three cities including Leeds, reported that as the number of sunny days increased from February to June this year, the amount of time they experienced severe pain fell. 

Not sure I'd be happy wearing that on the M62 in mid winter...

A bright start tomorrow, but soon turning cloudy with a little patchy rain in the morning. Dry and brighter again in the afternoon with sunny spells. Maximum temperature 21C (70F).

A new multi-million pound college campus in Leeds is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Leeds City College was awarded, in principle, a grant of £33m by West Yorkshire Combined authority at a meeting this morning.

The money will go towards work on new Health Sciences and Arts buildings in the Quarry Hill area of Leeds city centre. The college hopes it will eventually move out of current sites at Horsforth, Hunslet and Park Lane.  

The authority is expected to give full permission for the grant at a meeting in November.

The owner of an illegal food business was handed a suspended sentence at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

This is Edward Simpson from Huddersfield, and to his left is a pineapple, that he has been growing for the last eight years!

Well the pinapple isn't eight years old, that's quite new, but the plant is. His wife grew it from a cutting, the sad news is that when they pick it, the rest of the plant will die.

But hey, at least they'll have a nice fresh, juicy pineapple to cheer them up...

Castleford Tigers injured star Mike McMeeken has told BBC Radio Leeds he is itching to get out on the pitch.

The back row forward is set to be out of action for two months after breaking his leg.

This is going to slow things down a bit for the drive home tonight 

Police say they've searched 27 properties across Leeds - trying to find a man wanted over firearms and threats to kill offences.

Craig Smith (pictured) who's 47 was released from jail on licence in September last year, after serving part of a sentence for drugs offences and driving without insurance. 

They've been trying to track him down since 20 August.

Remember Spitting Image? Well the man who did the voice of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is appearing as her on stage. 

Steve Nallon, from Leeds, was the voice of Thatcher in the 80s and first impersonated her at a school show in the mid-70s..

Dead Sheep opened in Doncaster last night, and and tells the story of her downfall. 

A damning report into the suspected wrongful conviction of a former West Yorkshire Police officer for assaulting a teenager in custody has prompted a criminal investigation into the events that led to him being sent to prison.

The Prime Minister is wishing Britain's Paralympic team good luck - as they prepare to compete in Brazil. 

Yorkshire has 26 athletes taking part in ten different sports. 

There have been concerns about poor ticket sales - but West Yorkshire wheelchair racer Hannah Cockroft says her focus is on winning.

This pineapple, believe it or not, is growing in Fartown in Huddersfield!

It has grown from a cutting that Edward Simpson (pictured) planted eight years ago...

Police have moved to reassure the public after concerns over a spate of firearms incidents in the Bradford district.

Armed officers were deployed on separate streets twice on Monday, leading to the arrest of a man on suspicion of a firearms offence.

Leigh Centurions prop Sam Barlow, who lives in Halifax, has been given a four-year ban from sport for assaulting an anti-doping officer.

An independent panel found him guilty of "tampering with doping control".

Barlow, 28, pleaded guilty in court to assaulting the UK Anti-Doping Agency official, who visited his home in Halifax in July 2015.

The Scotland international will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court at a later date.
