  3. Hull City take on Stoke in the League Cup

    BBC Humberside Sport

City's Harry Maguire is hoping that a good performance in the League Cup at Stoke on Wednesday will lead to a first Premier League start of the season at Liverpool on Saturday.

He's likely to come into the side with Jake Livermore suspended following his red card at the weekend.

He can play at centre half or midfield, but thinks he's better at the back:

    Harry Maguire
Quote Message: You wait for opportunities and maybe this is my opportunity to shine. I'd definately say centre half but if the gaffer asked me to do a job in the midfield I'd say I'd be more than capable of playing that." from Harry Maguire Hull City

    Gill Sennett

BBC Local Live, East Yorkshire and Humber

Work has begun on a £5m Marine Control Centre in Grimsby.

It will replace the old Vessel Traffic Services centre at Spurn Point, which has become difficult to get to by land because of erosion of the peninsula.

The building will be based between the Fish Dock and the Royal Dock and is being built by Scunthorpe company Britcon.

Piling work taking place at the site of the new Humber Marine Control Centre at the Port of Grimsby
Quote Message: The regeneration of Grimsby as a major port means it requires an additional level of marine oversight and control. It makes sense to combine these functions under one roof in a new purpose-built Humber Marine Control Centre and offer our customers and river users the best possible service.” from Simon Bird ABP Director Humber

  8. Reports Adam Pearson interested in buying Hull City FC

    BBC Humberside Sport

We understand former Hull City owner and current Hull FC owner Adam Pearson is interested in buying the football club.

He owned the club until 2007 and then had a second short spell as Chairman.

Two Chinese consortia remain keen, although some members of the original one have failed the Premier League's "Fit and Proper Person's test".

But our Hull City commentator David Burns says the future ownership remains very much up in the air:

Quote Message: He's got some backers, I don't know who the backers are, nobody's saying anything. There are still other parties interested but my sources say Adam Pearson is definitely in the game trying to buy Hull City with backers. Where it will end up, we're still at that stage where we don't know." from David Burns BBC Radio Humberside - Hull City commentator
