  2. County Championship: Somerset beat title rivals Yorkshire at Headingley

    Somerset celebrate

    Somerset kept their Championship title hopes alive as they beat rivals Yorkshire by 10 wickets in their penultimate match of the season.

    Yorkshire were bowled out for 286 at Headingley, despite Jake Lehmann's 116.

    Jack Leach took 6-64 before Somerset easily reached their target of 42.

  4. Top 10 historic 'at risk' buildings named including Grimsby's Victoria Mill

    The former home of explorer Gertrude Bell, a grade II* listed church and two derelict hospitals are among 10 of the most endangered historic buildings, according to the Victorian Society.

    The Victorian Society released its annual list, which it says names those in urgent need of help and protection.

    It includes Red Barns in Redcar where Bell lived, St Paul's Church in Chester, Wakefield's Clayton Hospital and Mount Street Hospital in Preston.

  5. Claims an east-west rail line could create thousands of jobs

    The government's being called on to spend £100m on transport links from the Humber Ports. 

    A new northern port agreement was settled yesterday between ports which include Immingham (pictured)  and Liverpool. 

    The think tank IPPR North now say an east west rail link spanning the north of England could be worth up to £37 billion pounds long-term, and create thousands of jobs.

    The road is now open but there is still queuing traffic because of a shed load of steel.

  8. Arrest after Hull rape allegation

    A 30-year-old man's been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Hull city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    The woman, who's 22, was attacked in an alleyway after leaving a local nightclub. 

    Police want to find a man who helped the woman when she took refuge in a shop doorway, possibly in the Jameson Street area.

  9. Cigarette-smuggling lorry driver jailed

    A lorry driver who tried to smuggle 100,000 illegal cigarettes into the UK at Hull Docks in a cargo of sweets has been jailed for 16 months.

    Josef Zarsky (pictured) from Breclav in the Czech Republic was stopped by Border Force officers in Hull when he arrived on a ferry from Rotterdam in August.

    The cigarettes, which were worth £27,000 in unpaid duty, were found hidden in the cab.

  10. Body of a man found in Hull

    The body of a man's been found on Biggin Avenue (pictured) in the Brandsholme area of Hull this afternoon. 

    Police say they were called to the scene at around 13:00.

    A cordon has been put in place while they try to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

  11. Sport: Latest on Hull City AFC takeover talks

    Former Hull City chairman Paul Duffen (pictured) has confirmed he's assisting the Allams in trying to find a new owner for the club. 

    He's told the Hull Daily Mail that he's been working with them for some time, stating that his priority is in the best interests of the club. 

    The Chairman of French club Nice, Chien Lee, has been in the area this week for talks about a possible takeover.

  12. More people out of work in this region

    Unemployment in Yorkshire and the Humber rose between May and June. 

    Around 159,000 people in the region were out of work. That's 1,000 more than in the previous quarter.

    Nationally, there's been a fall of 39,000, to 1.6 million. 

    The figures are the first to take into account the period immediately after the Brexit vote

    Growth in average weekly earnings slowed slightly to an increase of 2.3% on last year.

  13. Man exposes himself on Hull cycle track

    A woman's reported being a man exposed himself on a Hull cycle path.

    The 49-year-old was walking along a the track near Haversage Road in Sutton last Thursday at around 14:45 when she was approached by a man on a bike.

    The man who's thought to be around 22 to 30-years-old asked for directions before returning around half an hour later. It's then he exposed himself.

    He's described as around 5ft 10in, of stocky build with short black/dark brown hair and wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

    Police are asking anyone with any information to call them on the 101 number quoting crime reference number 2213199 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  14. Hull's Adam Duggleby goes for a second gold at Rio

    At the Paralympics in Rio, Hull's Adam Duggleby and Steve Bate go for their second gold of the Games.

    The road cycling time trials take place this afternoon and the tandem pair are in action from 17:30.

    Hull FC half-back Harry Tyson Wilson (pictured) looks set to leave the club at the end of the season. 

    However Coach Lee Radford says he's not in a position to confirm it, with the players future yet to be announced.

    Thanks to Mike Unsworth who has sent us some photos from the scene of the A63 road closure this afternoon. The road has been closed westbound and traffic remains heavy in the area.

     A63 Clive Sullivan Way - Daltry Street Flyover - in Hull closed and queuing traffic westbound at the Hessle Road junction, because of a shed load of steel. Diversion in operation - via the slip road to Daltry Street and the entry slip road back onto A63.

  20. New off road car to help police stop rural crime

    Humberside Police has taken delivery of a new 4x4 vehicle, which it says will help it tackle wildlife and rural crime more effectively. 

    It says it'll help officers get to remote, off-road locations. 

    The force says there's an increase in crimes like farm arson, diesel theft, poaching and hare-coursing at this time of year in this area, because fields have been harvested.

    Wildlife and Rural Crime Officer got the keys to a band new Isuzu D-Max today.
