  1. Five things we learnt today in North Yorkshire

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

That's all we've got time for today - thanks for being with us. We're back again with our Local Live service from 07:00 tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are five things we've learnt in North Yorkshire today:

    1. There's a call for punishments to be more severe for people in North Yorkshire using mobile phones while driving
    2. Rescuers are being trained on a new faster lifeboat for Scarborough
    3. A Tadcaster photographer is a finalist in the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition being judged in London tonight. Click here to see why
    4. If you love the Minster and remember Munster, two German film makers want you to search your memory banks
    5. And what's your unusual morning ritual, the thing you do to start the day? This chappaddles his surfboard down the river Nidd in Knaresborough!

I'll leave you today with a picture of Rievaulx, taken early today by BBC Weather Watcher Badger.

    Rievaulx

I hope it leaves you with a hazy glow similar to the one in the picture!

  2. Munster to Minster: Twin city memories sought

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

Two film makers from Germany are asking people from York to trawl through their memory banks for their links to its twin city of Munster.

Bernhard Bramswig and Marianne Koch are due to visit York in October to record residents' memories.

    Munster minster

The twinning of York and Munster in Germany will be 60 years old in 2017 and an exhibition will be held in both cities along with other events to mark the anniversary.

Bernhard is asking for people who have been in sporting clubs, the armed services, on school visits or any other activity involving Munster to come forward with photos, documents or to be filmed recalling their memories.

If you have any photos or other memories, or wish to be filmed, you should contact the York Munster Twinning Association - for details click here.

  3. Hull City v Arsenal tribute planned for Daniel Wilkinson

A minute's silence will be held before Hull City's Premier League home game against Arsenal on Saturday to pay tribute to ex-player Daniel Wilkinson, who also previously played for Harrogate Town and Scarborough Athletic.

    Daniel Wilkinson

Wilkinson, 26, who was playing for non-league Shaw Lane, died in hospital on Monday after collapsing during a match.

Shaw Lane officials are talking to the players family and team-mates about how best to pay tribute.

Harrogate AFC, where Wilkinson spent time on loan, observed a minute's silence before their game against Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday.

  4. Traffic and travel update: Kirby Moorside two-car accident causing delays

    BBC Travel

An accident between two cars on the A170 in Keldholme has blocked the road and is causing slow traffic in both directions at the Gray Lane junction.

  5. Listen: Speed cameras used in crackdown on behind-the-wheel mobile use

    Jonathan Cowap

    Presenter, BBC Radio York

The number of people using their mobile phones while driving is being described as at "epidemic proportions".

Research from the RAC shows about one in three people admit using a phone while driving in the past year - compared to fewer than one in 10 in 2014.

Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, has told me there've been almost 900 recorded offences since April last year in our county - and that a lot of those are caught by police speed cameras:

  6. North Yorkshire's weather: A sunny afternoon for most

    Owain Wyn Evans

    Weather presenter, BBC Look North

There should be plenty of sunny spells this afternoon

Eastern coastal parts may hang on to the murky conditions, feeling much cooler here.

Highs for most will be about 24C (75F).

  7. Watch: Rescuers trained on new faster lifeboat for Scarborough

    Mike Kemp

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Lifeboat crews in Scarborough are being trained today on a new lifeboat in the South Bay.

They're getting their hands on a new Shannon class lifeboat, along with its new launch and recovery system - which is what you can see the boat sitting on in the clip below.

The £2m boat was funded by donations from the FW Plaxton Charitable Trust, set up after the death of Frederic "Eric" Plaxton, the founder of Scarborough coach building firm Plaxton Ltd, to ensure proceeds of his estate were used to benefit Scarborough people.

The Shannon class lifeboat is the first modern RNLI all-weather lifeboat to be powered by water jets not propellers. It's capable of 25 knots - 50% faster than the lifeboats it replaces.

The boat is due to become operational in November after the opening of Scarborough's new lifeboat station which was rebuilt to accommodate the larger craft.

  9. Watch: Replica spitfire built as thank you for WW2 help

A replica Spitfire is being made for an African country that bought 24 Spitfires which went on to be used in the Battle of Britain by 72 Squadron which was based in North Yorkshire.

A group of enthusiasts wanted to thank Lesotho, which scraped the money together after an appeal for funds by Britain.

The Spitfire Fund appeal was made to countries friendly with Britain such as Basutoland - at the time a British Protectorate - which became Lesotho.

The full-size fibreglass replica being made at an industrial unit in Withiel, Cornwall, will be presented to King Letsie III in Lesotholand on 11 November.

It will carry the code letters of No 72 Squadron.

  10. Misty morning, can't see no sun...

    BBC Weather Watchers

There's a Bob Marley song which starts "Misty morning, can't see no sun."

It's unlikely it was inspired by the weather in North Yorkshire, but it certainly fits the picture today.

Our BBC Weather Watchers have, of course, once again been quick to capture the changing elements.

    Misty North Yorkshire

The square of grey (top left) is actually Harrogate - Bradders peered through the gloom to take that. The shrouded trees are in a Knaresborough field, and Old Man George trudged out to snap that.

Meanwhile, Banko revealed the the ghostly haze beyond the stone wall is actually Hawes at 08:08 this morning, and Scorp provided us with the walkers disappearing into the gloom on Filey beach.

  11. Time capsule buried at site of former Terry's chocolate works

Drawings by local schoolchildren and memorabilia from times gone by are among the items which have been buried in a time capsule at the former site of one of York's landmarks.

    Contents of time capsule

The capsule's been buried near a new housing development being built on the site of the city's famous Terry's chocolate factory after an appeal for contributions from local schools, residents, historians and former workers.

The Terry's factory, on Bishopthorpe Road, closed in 2005 when production was moved to continental Europe.

The factory's closure brought to an end chocolate-making in York by Terry's, which started manufacturing in the city in 1886.

The family of York actor and BBC Radio presenter Martin Barrass have thanked people for their support after a motorbike accident at the weekend left him seriously injured.

    Martin Barrass

Mr Barrass, 60, was on his way back from the Lake District on his motorbike on Saturday when he was injured in an accident near Skipton.

He remains in a critical but stable condition in intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary.

In a statement, his family says: "Thank you very much for your continuing messages of love and support for Martin, they mean a great deal.

The tournament, which will take place in addition to the existing 18-team T20 Blast, could start as early as 2018.

It will take place at city-based Test grounds, although the new teams themselves will not necessarily feature cities in their names.

    Andrew Barton
