    Andy Giddings

    Sports Editor, BBC Sheffield

It's set to be a great weekend for James Coppinger at Doncaster Rovers - and it's already started well.

    James Coppinger

Ahead of his 500th appearance for Doncaster, he's been named the League Two player of the month

The 35-year-old has scored twice, and set up three goals this term already.

But he's admitted to BBC Radio Sheffield that he has previously come "really close" to leaving Doncaster.

"When you have a football career you can play for different clubs, you can play for different reasons, you can play for the money, you can move to earn more  or play at a higher level.

"But, for me, that's never been my focus. My focus has been to be happy and to enjoy my football."

  10. Sir Cliff Richard: Second challenge to sex charges decision

    BBC News England

A second alleged sexual abuse victim of Sir Cliff Richard has challenged a decision not to bring charges against him, prosecutors have said.

The Crown Prosecution Service said last month it was reviewing one case after a request by a male complainant, and another has now requested a review.

    Sir Cliff Richard

In June it said there was "insufficient evidence" to prosecute Sir Cliff over claims made by four men of sex offences between 1958 and the early 1980s.

Sir Cliff has always denied the claims.

    Toby Foster

They said it was a bad plan from day one. Now campaigners are celebrating news that plans for a new lap dancing club in the city centre have been dropped.

The idea was for a club called Villa Mercedes at the top of Leadmill Road.

But, after nearly 200 objections were received and more than 20 people spoke out at a council licensing meeting, the company behind the plans, Rockwave Leisure, has decided to withdraw the plan.

  18. Efforts to protect Hardwick Hall from HS2 plans

    Mick Lunney

    BBC Local Live, Sheffield

    Hardwick Hall

The National Trust has appointed landscape architecture specialists Cookson and Tickner to develop a proposal to mitigate the impact  of the proposed HS2 high speed rail route on Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire.

The main line of HS2 between Birmingham and Leeds is planned to pass through the National Trust's estate at Hardwick, which dates back to the 1500s and is one of the most visited attractions in the country.

The current HS2 plans take the railway within about 100m of Hardwick's Registered Park and Garden, forging a corridor up to 300m wide and more than 2km long, through Hardwick's estate.

Quote Message: If HS2 is built along this route, there will be highly significant and detrimental impacts on Hardwick's internationally important heritage, and precious much visited natural places." from Denise Edwards General manager, Hardwick Hall
