    Well whoever came up with that obviously never tried to get out of Lincoln after work...

    Yes, there's some congestion on the way out of the city this evening, there's very slow traffic on the A15 on the Canwick Road junction.

  3. 'Tornado team' called to prison last night, BBC understands

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire understands that the specialist prison riot squad, the Tornado Team, was called to Lincoln Prison last night.

    However this was done only as a precaution. 

  4. Council say Premier Inn development 'shows confidence'

    As we told you earlier the plans for a new hotel on the Pier Fields site in Skegness have been given the official approval by East Lindsey District Council. 

    Not everyone is happy about it, the plans had to be put on hold last year after a community campaign.

    But the council says it'll help the town:

  5. Weather warning for Lincolnshire

    Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop more widely across central, southern and eastern parts of England during Thursday night and Friday morning, whilst rain spreading from the west may also turn locally heavy and thundery. 

    This all moving eastwards during the course of the day, but not clearing until evening.  

  6. County's traffic problems brought up in the Commons

    The Minister for Transport has promised to hold a meeting to discuss what can be done to tackle traffic hold-ups in Lincolnshire. 

    John Hayes has promised to invite highways officers to London to talk about bottlenecks experienced in Horncastle and other coastal roads over the summer.

    He made the promise in the Commons in response to Louth and Horncastle MP Victoria Atkins.

  7. Lincoln Prison disturbance: What we know

    Following reports of an incident at Lincoln Prison here's what we know so far:

    • Ministry of Justice say it is not a riot.
    • They have said they're dealing with "an ongoing incident" confined to one wing of the building.
    • Heavy police presence outside, vans on standby.
    • Ministry of Justice say rumours of hostage situation and fires are false.
    • Visitors have been turned away from the prison.
  8. Man bailed following death on A1

    A 52-year-old man arrested in connection with a fatal collision on the A1 near Grantham has been released on bail. 

     A 17-year-old scooter rider died in the crash. 

     It happened on Tuesday night near Barrowby.

  11. BreakingMinistry says no riot at Lincoln prison

    The Ministry of Justice says that the incident at Lincoln prison is not a riot and there have not been any hostages taken or fires started, as reported by some other media outlets.

  13. Scunthorpe steel to be used in London skyscrapers

    British Steel, the company created after Tata Steel was taken over in June, has agreed a partnership with a contractor responsible, in part, for the "Walkie Talkie" and the roof on the London Olympic Stadium Transformation project.

    The steelworks in Scunthorpe is one of the sites owned by British Steel, for months it's future hung in the balance as Tata Steel struggled with their finances.

    A thousand tonnes of steel made at the Scunthorpe plant has been earmarked for a new project on London's Lime Street known as the "The Scalpel".

  15. Commons trump the Lords on the Thames

    Did you know that every year for the last decade the House of Commons takes on the House of Lords in a boat race à la Oxford and Cambridge?

    Us neither! Apparently those in Upper House have had the upper hand for some time now but no longer, thanks, in part, to the efforts of two Lincolnshire MPs.

    Lincoln MP Karl McCartney and Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh took to the water to help the Commons row to victory.

    However, they weren't just messing about on the river, the race helped to raise £10,000 for charity.
