West Brom manager Tony Pulis after his side's late goal earned a draw: "I'm pleased because if we had lost I'd have been disappointed. We haven't got the array of talent like they have but the work rate they put in was fantastic.

We've got a fit group who never give up. We had to respond from going a goal down. I was so pleased with the attitude.

On reaching 1000 games as a manager: "It feels a lifetime. I've been a lucky man, coming out of South Wales as a 16 years old, to still be in football now - it's been a dream. 

"What will I do tonight to celebrate? Look at Sunderland v Crystal Palace as we've got Sunderland next."

No rest for the wicked, eh?

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin said: "We played a very good game and for one hour we were at the same level as Manchester City and they are the best team in the UK.

"In front of us we have a good future. I know my job and after four, five or six defeats it is not easy but I am confident as we have played a good game today."

On the penalty decision that saw his side fall 2-1 behind, Guidolin added: "I'm not a judge. If the referee says this I have to accept it. For me it is not a penalty but that's not important, the important thing is my team played a good game."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on spoiling Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan's 54th birthday: "That was unfortunate, that's not my problem. Who makes the fixtures? the FA - not my problem!"

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "To a man, we were absolutely brilliant - as good as we were bad on Tuesday. 

"It was an outstanding performance against a very good team. You need a result like this and a performance like this to really get the belief into the players. In this league, every week is extremely tough but if we can match that performance each week, we'll do well.

"I'm loathe to pick out individuals but Harry Arter was absolutely outstanding, he covered every blade of grass and was hugely impressive. The midfield three [Arter, Jack Wilshere and Andrew Surman] allowed us to control the game.

"Jack's training time has increased, but the ultimate thing is to keep him fit, and if we can do that he'll be a brilliant player for us. Everyone in the team has benefited from having Jack in there."

Arsenal are rampant here. Too quick, too sharp for a shambolic Chelsea defence.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte stands arms folded in his technical area as he ponders some way of finding a route back into a game that is already threatening to disappear out of sight.

Arsenal fans, in contrast, are understandably ecstatic.

Gary Cahill is left red-faced after gifting the ball to Alexis Sanchez, who chips home beautifully for the opener.

Liverpool captain James Milner: "I thought it was a good display from start to finish. Even with a lead we kept pushing on. We were good without the ball, chasing and winning it back. Lucky enough both my penalties went in. The boys have done well to win them, the impressive thing was the manner of the win because the hunger was there right until the end.

"We'll leave it for others to discuss where this team can go. The more we play together the better we'll get it. There's talent all over the field and we work for each other. The bench was strong today and we have other players in around, lads coming back from injury and youngster pushing . There's quality all over the place. You know if you don't perform there is someone pushing to get your shirt."

Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan, speaking about taking over permanently as manager:  "Everything is open to debate. i am doing my job like I've always done. We have to look forward to what's ahead but we've had two disappointing results. We have Chelsea to come and then we go into 'our league' and we'll be judged on that. 

"The offer has been there but it hasn't been signed sealed and delivered yet. We had a terrific chat and I'm waiting for that now. I would want it to be sorted out. it'll be done when it's done."

Everton manager Ronald Koeman: "Bournemouth was the better team, the more aggressive team, and that was the problem in the first half.

"You can't win if you play like we did in the first half. We lost every second ball, we lost every battle.

"We showed what we needed to do in the second half, we didn't have big opportunities but we were the more dominant team. But we needed to start [the game] like this. They dropped back, and we took a risk with four strikers on.

"But we know we will not win every game. Bournemouth are really a good team, they will not fight against relegation."

A disgruntled Black Cats boss David Moyes: "To be 2-0 up at home and lose is disappointing. I actually thought we were fortunate to be two goals up, but we never gave ourselves the chance to hold on. We just couldn't. 

"For us to not have someone deal with Benteke at the death, for him to have a five yard run and have no challenge, is just incredible. We need our players to assume a level of responsibility, that's it's not all down to me and my staff. 

"We're in a similar situation to where the club's been for the last two or three seasons. To address this, when we go 2-0 up don’t lose headers and challenges. It's simple, just do the basics well and then you won’t concede."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "We fully deserved the result, the most important thing is the victory. Son was fantastic but it was a collective effort.

"The first half was great and we should have scored more than two. We need to learn to be more aggressive and clinical."

Spurs may well need to be more clinical in their next Premier League game. They play Manchester City at home next Sunday.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis on 5 live Sports Report: "That was a deserved point. We conceded a scrappy goal but the reaction of the players was absolutely first-class. In the last 20 minites we really pressed and we got the point we deserved. 

"Salomon Rondon is a good player with all the tools. But we lose him to South America soon on international duty - but we knew that when we signed him so we can't complain. 

"Am I going to watch Match of the Day tonight? Well, it depends what my wife Deb's watching. There's no chance I'm watching Strictly!"

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "I think we should not worry about whether we should have scored more. It was a brilliant amazing first half in all aspects. It was a world-class performance in counter pressing. We didn't give Hull the opportunity to create confidence. It was wonderful to watch. All in all, really good. 

"I was little angry we conceded. It would be nice to have a clean sheet one time in the season! Maybe we will work on this. It was a professional second half from the players. I am not interested in statements now just collecting points.

"Adam Lallana is a wonderful player and a great professional so I don't have to show him to play football. He has the talent and the skills. I don't want to talk about too much one player, but Adam is a good footballer. He's a pressing player because he loves to do it. He does it because he wants which is important for us. If he's running we have to follow him. Hopefully we can do it more often."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says: "Today we played very good, but we missed a lot of final passes and that happened a lot of times in the first half.

"You have to win the ball, use the ball and use the counter attack. It is the first time we have been at 1-1 at half-time and we spoke of how we had to be like a team and in the second half we played really well.

"Sergio (Aguero) is quality. His first step, second step in the box is so good and that is why he is one of the best strikers in the world but I want to help him improve his game."

On Kevin de Bruyne, who limped off with what looked to be a hamstring problem, Guardiola added: "I don't know (how he is), I think he is injured, that's why we have to have a big squad as everyone will help us."

Arsene Wenger will be only too aware that Chelsea have haunted his big career landmarks.

As Wenger celebrates 20 years at Arsenal (his official starting date was 1 October), he will recall that he lost his 500th Arsenal match 1-0 in 2005, and lost his 1000th game by a thumping 6-0 in 2014 - both to Chelsea.

The Frenchman may also know that his record against his rivals from Stamford Bridge is neatly divided. In his first 27 meetings with Chelsea: W15, D9, L3. But in the next 27 meetings: W5, D5, L17.

Wenger's elephantine memory will no doubt also recall his last competitive meeting with Antonio Conte. It was 2002 and Conte was part of a Juventus side which beat Arsenal in Turin, knocking them out of the Champions League.

Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe: "I'm devastated. When you are 2-0 up at home you have to see the game out and win it, simple as that. You can imagine how it is in the dressing room.

"It's hard, because when you play well but don’t get points it's difficult. We created a lot of chances today but when you play well you expect to win. Even a draw today would have made us feel down, because we thought we were the better team. 

"Benteke's goal at the end is something we have worked on in training - we're disappointed."

How big will this result prove for Sunderland in the final reckoning?

Had they managed to hang onto that 2-0 lead over Palace, they would be out of the relegation zone by now.

They didn't though and they are not.
