    Rolling Stone magazine

    Prince's Paisley Park complex

The Paisley Park studio complex in Minnesota where Prince lived and worked is to open to the public for the first time later.

The Today Show in the US was given a tour of massive studio which will now become a museum and which has been left largely untouched since Prince's death in April.

The star's handwritten notes are still visible on the console in Studio A, while a Purple Rain Room features the film's motorcycle, script and Oscar for best original song score.

The 1984 film is also projected in a loop on the purple walls.

Prince's sister Tyka Nelson told presenter Al Roker: "I want them [fans] to maybe feel like maybe they saw Prince up close.

"Sometimes when you’re a fan, you get to only to see them from a seat, but this way, you’re almost face-to-face with him."

Legend says his new album will have more of "a live band sound" and so "a more soulful feel" than before.

But, in the interview with Notion magazine, he added there was no radical new direction...

Quote Message: I don’t think it’s a dramatic change. I believe that it’s progression; continuing to push myself and trying to perfect my craft and, to me, that really is to write the best songs you can write, then try to record and produce them in the best way that you can. That’s what we focused on; trying to write great songs that told my story.

Legend also spoke about his relationship with early collaborator Kanye West...

Quote Message: He was an up-and-coming producer that wanted to be a rapper but no-one yet believed him at that time and I was an up-and-coming singer and pianist who wanted to be a solo star also. We both believed in each other, helped each other, and obviously have both had pretty successful careers since then.

With 31 Grammys between them, you could indeed say that John...

  4. Nimmo debut new track Dancing Makes Us Brave

New band Nimmo premiered their latest track as Annie Mac's Hottest Record last night, with a title after the Radio 1 DJ's own heart, Dancing Makes Us Brave.

"It's a bit earnest," laughed the electronic duo, who revealed they met on the first day of secondary school at Hampstead School in Kilburn.

After a hectic festival season, Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett are touring with Swedish singer MØ and have a debut album on the way.

"It's finished. We're just putting out the singles now, feels amazing to be honest," they told Annie.

You have NEVER heard it sang like this...

  6. Rolling Stones to release album of blues covers

    Mick Jagger and Keith Richards

Well, the clues were all there, a giant blue tongue appearing on London landmarks, the fact that the band have been talking about it publicly since April...

Anyway, the worst kept secret in music today is now official, The Rolling Stones are set to release their first studio album in over a decade.

Blue & Lonesome - a covers album - is set to come out on 2 December.

The album was apparently recorded in just three days at the British Grove Studios in west London and was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins.

Two of the twelve tracks will also feature Eric Clapton.

Blue & Lonesome will sees the band cover blues artists including Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf.

  7. Radiohead release stripped-back performance video for The Numbers

The new music video from Radiohead is several definitions of stripped-back, featuring only vest-clad singer Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood.

But then again, when the song is this beautiful, what else do you really need?

Directed by Hollywood filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, producer Nigel Godrich revealed on Twitter he had kept it close to home...

  9. The Rolling Stones tongue turns blue

Marble Arch lit up with Rolling Stones logos

The Rolling Stones teasers have been coming thick and fast as the band gear up for "a big announcement" at 14:00 BST today, and their famous tongue logo has turned blue.

Ours does that when we drink blue raspberry Slush Puppies, but we think it has more significance here.

Several members of the band have already revealed they've been working on an album of Blues covers - their first new studio album in more than ten years - and they've been tweeting all kinds with the words "Coming October 6".

London's Marble Arch was turned blue last night and they've also shared some footage from the studio...

  10. Emeli Sande takes an emotional trip to the seaside in new video

Emeli Sande's shared a video for Hurts, the first single we've heard off new album Long Live the Angels, which is due on 11 November.

The visually stunning black and white promo is directed by Charles Mehling, who also worked with Sande on Next To Me

You can watch the video here, but we are attaching a language warning so consider yourselves warned.

The Aberdeenshire singer-songwriter is currently touring Europe for some intimate live dates, with a show at St John church in Hackney, London this evening.

  11. Mystery website sparks Daft Punk rumours

    BBC Newsbeat

    Daft Punk

More Daft Punk tour rumours are circulating today, thanks to a new website and a mysterious hidden countdown.

The site alive2017.com is thought by some fans to be connected to the elusive French duo, who generally leave ten years between tours.

They last toured in 2007 and prior to that in 1997 with appropriate titles Alive 1997 and Alive 2007.

The new website shows very little to the untrained eye, but Newsbeat reports experts (aka a group of Daft Punk loving Reddit users) have found several hints to its true purpose.

In a cunning development more suited to the pages of a Dan Brown novel, the word "Alive" hides a countdown on the "i", set to 27 October 2016 - when it is believed the website's true purpose will be revealed.

Apparently the HTML spells out the longitude and latitude coordinates of Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paolo, Ibiza and Indio in California and a location close to Perth Australia.

There have also been many rumours they could headline Glastonbury 2017.

  12. Moby to be recognised at this year's EMAs

    Moby

No, not those ones MTV are hosting in Rotterdam in November.

Moby is instead getting an award from the Environmental Media Association, for his "influential contributions and steadfast commitment to environmental issues".

The Hollywood Reporter says Moby is being recognise for several reasons, from "starting his own nonprofit, to advocating on Capitol Hill for net neutrality, to opening his own 100 percent organic vegan restaurant".

Read our interview with the artist on his new album.

The ceremony on 22 October will be hosted by Nicole Richie.

“We can think of no better person to host the EMA Awards than our very own Nicole Richie,” said EMA president Debbie Levin.

"She has a deep philanthropic history and commitment to the environment.”

  13. Common performs in the White House library

Common and band perform in the White House library

We're big fans of the Tiny Desk Concerts NPR produce in the US, with everyone from Adele to Paul Weller having performed a live session sat by a - you guessed it - tiny desk in their office.

Now they've done their first ever gig on location, and not just any location - they took Common to perform in the White House library.

The twenty minute set featured three new tracks and one classic, I Used To Love H.E.R., with a special six-piece band of close friends that included Robert Glasper on keyboards and longtime friend and collaborator Bilal on guest vocals.

"This Tiny Desk Concert was a convergence of art and soul, mixing politics with heart," said presenter Bob Boilen.

"Common's choice of songs dealt with incarceration as the new slavery, imagined a time where women rule the world and honored the man he looked up to all his life, his father."

Common told fans on Twitter the experience was "EPIC".

  14. Jamie Lidell shares new track inspired by his young son. Awwww...

Electro-soul singer Jamie Lidell has shared another new song from his forthcoming sixth album Building a Beginning, which is coming out on 14 October.

The track Julian - on a definite Stevie Wonder Innervision-ish groove - is named after Lidell's young son and first child.

"I wanted to write something that he wants to jump around to," said Lidell.

Jamie is playing three UK dates later this month in Brighton, London and Manchester.

First, Bastille pull out of a gig in New York because of singer Dan's sore throat...

Now, Drake has announced he is postponing several shows in Toronto, Philadelphia and New Jersey due to an ankle injury.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night," Drizzy wrote on his blog.

"I hate to be told I can't do something, but under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate."

He said he was "crushed to even be typing this announcement", adding: "I can't wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle."

  16. Quincy Jones leads more tributes to Rod Temperton

    Rod Temperton

Quincy Jones, the producer of Michael Jackson's Thriller - still the bestselling album of all time - has led the continuing tributes to songwriter Rod Temperton, following his death from cancer at the age of 66.

"There are simply no words to express how heavy my heart is at the news of the passing of my friend, brother and colleague Rod Temperton," Jones told Rolling Stone

"It all starts with the song, and Rod was one of my go-to songwriters. He was one of the best, period.

"He wrote three songs for Thriller…Baby Be Mine, The Lady in My Life and Thriller; and wrote the Vincent Price intro to Thriller in the car on the way from the airport to the studio."

Quote Message: To say his talent was insane is an understatement. He was the best friend and brother you could ever work with, and I will forever treasure our friendship and all those decades together in the studio. from Quincy Jones

  17. Gaga goes country on new track Million Reasons

Lady Gaga on stage in Nashville

Lady Gaga has debuted new track Million Reasons, the second from her forthcoming album Joanne, performing it live for the first time as she kicked off her Dive Bar Tour in the US.

A Rhinestone-laden Gaga took to the stage in Nashville, live-streaming the show on her Facebook page where you can still watch it (Million Reasons starts about 39 minutes in).

Nashville songwriter Hillary Lindsey, who produced the song with Mark Ronson and BloodPop, joined in with backing vocals for some full on country harmonies.

Gaga meanwhile ditched her New York accent to introduce the song in her best country tones, saying: "All these men - my dad, my boyfriends, all the men in my life - they give me a million reasons, but I just need one good one to stick around."
