  3. Ipswich MD tells fans to keep faith in McCarthy

    Graeme Mac

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ahead of Ipswich Town's match at Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, the Blues' managing director has defended Mick McCarthy in the wake of criticism of the manager from some supporters.

    Ian Milne

Ipswich are without a win or a goal in four matches, and have found the net on just four occasions in their last 11 encounters, but Ian Milne says McCarthy is still the right man for the job.

"I don't have any sympathy for those supporters who say Mick should go," Milne said. "Too many clubs have changed their manager too soon, and it hasn't been good for them.

"We finished seventh last year and have never been below ninth under Mick.

"It's early days yet and we have got a strong team, so please keep the faith."

  4. New development to 'regenerate' Lowestoft's Jubilee Way will retain historic wall

    Kate Williams

    BBC Local Live

A new development to help regenerate part of Lowestoft, creating 24 new jobs, will retain part of the town's history, says Waveney District Council.

Permission has been agreed for old council offices on Jubilee Way to be demolished, making way for a Burger King drive-through restaurant.

However planners made it with the proviso that a historic wall on the site, known as the Coopers Building, be retained.

Waveney District Council leader Colin Law said they had always maintained when the council left the building that this part of town would not be neglected.

He said: "I am also delighted that this development balances the importance of regeneration with the careful consideration we always seek to give to heritage assets. The retention of part of the Coopers Building recognises this and ensures we get the balance just right.”

The original town hall, adjacent to the site, will be retained for civic and community use, and is not a part of this new development.

  5. Williams return is a timely boost for Ipswich Town

    Graeme Mac

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Whether Jonny Williams (pictured) is involved from the start for Ipswich's match at Blackburn tomorrow remains to be seen, but either way, fellow midfielder Jonathan Douglas is delighted that the Welsh international is fit again.

    Jonny Williams

"He's looking really good, and we've a few more back as well after the international break so the squad is getting bigger."

"David McGoldrick and Adam Webster are also training again so that is 3 big players and 3 big characters that can only help us in the coming weeks."

  6. Douglas confident he can help end Ipswich Town's goal drought

    Brenner Woolley

    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ipswich Town midfielder Jonathan Douglas believes his first goal of the season isn't far away, and will hopefully come against his former club Blackburn tomorrow.

    Jonathan Douglas

The 33-year-old was on the score-sheet eight times in his final campaign at Brentford, and then got three for Ipswich last season.

"It's coming, if I keep getting in the box it's only a matter of time," said Douglas.

"You need to save your energy, you can't be running around everywhere, you need to pick and choose when you get in the box.

"Overall I've been doing that well, it just hasn't fallen to me."

  7. Mental health trust 'aspires to be good'

    Caroline Kingdon

    BBC Local Live

It's now come out of special measures, but the Care Quality Commission says there are still ongoing safety issues.

The trust's director of nursing Jane Sayer says going into special measures meant they "had to respond far more quickly than otherwise, but it's helped us to focus on what needs to be done quickly... and we know there's still work to do."

  15. Mental health trust says there will be 'no complacency'

    Caroline Kingdon

    BBC Local Live

The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) will continue to receive support from NHS Improvement (NHSI), following its removal from special measures.

Mike Richards, chief inspector of hospitals for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) says there's still work to be done to move the NSFT towards a "good" overall rating. The measures were removed on condition the trust addresses outstanding issues.

The trust was put in special measures in February 2015.

Michael Scott, NSFT chief executive, acknowledges there's work to be done, but says coming out of special measures in just over 18 months is a real achievement and is "reassuring for patients".

The "requires improvement" rating puts the trust alongside the majority of other NHS mental health trusts in England, where 64% of those the CQC had rated by July 2016 "required improvement" overall, Mr Scott adds.

Quote Message: There will be no complacency on our part... we fully understand that there's still a way to go... we remain 100% committed to delivering the very best care and support that we can and safety remains our paramount concern and focus." from Michael Scott Chief executive, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

When inspectors returned in July and August this year, they found the NSFT had made "significant improvements".

Inspectors said the focus had been on developing a strategic vision with staff and patients at its centre, although there was still work to be done.

It still had a overall status of "requires Improvement".
