Floods cash: 'We need to keep fighting for a better deal' says Calderdale Council Leader
Details of how £55m will be spent to protect 1,600 homes and businesses in Calderdale from flooding have finally been revealed by the Environment Agency.
Environment minister Therese Coffey will announce the funding later today, £30m of which will be spent on protecting homes and businesses in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.
But the leader of Calderdale Council says more money will be needed in the long term and they need to keep fighting for a better deal.
Hit-and-run leaves Bradford man fighting for his life
A 26-year-old man suffered serious injuries and is fighting for his life after being hit by the driver of a yellow Skoda Fabia.
It happened on an alleyway at the rear of Hollings Terrace in Bradford just after midnight on last Sunday.
The driver left the victim and sped off down Thornton Road with a damaged wing mirror.

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and released pending further inquiries.

But it arrived in the UK after Coldplay singer Chris Martin's great-great-grandfather, a builder called William Willett, thought it was a good idea too.

Warning from the fire service after Bradford firefighters attacked
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say it won't tolerate any more attacks on its firefighters.
Bradford district firefighters have already come under attack while tackling two rubbish fires in the past three nights.
Nobody was harmed but the fire service are warning that fire engines do have cameras installed to capture any future incidents.

Leeds 'splashmob' recreates Thriller at Bramley Baths
Forget about trick or treating this Halloween, the only costume you need in Leeds is your swimming costume!
The Bramley Mermaid Club will be performing their own version of Michael Jackson's Thriller in the pool.
And you can be part of the pool-based performance too:

A man's been in court again accused of murdering an eight-year-old girl and her dad in a fire in Wakefield.
Keira and Andrew Broadhead died in a fire at their home last week.
Daniel Jones, 28, from Knottingley appeared at Leeds Crown Court earlier.
He's been remanded in custody, and will be back in court on 23 November.
New confidential sexual health service for under-19s in Leeds
A new sexual health service is now available in Leeds for under-19s.
It includes things like contraception advice, sexually-transmitted infection tests and support and advice.
You don't need an appointment and nothing discussed goes on your GP record.
