  2. Plans for a new supermarket and houses in Barton

    Seventy new homes, a supermarket, and pub could be built on a development in Barton Upon Humber in North Lincolnshire. 

    A meeting is currently taking place to allow people to see the development plans on the site known locally as Top Field (pictured).

    The site is just off the A15 and the A1077 at the Humber Bridge roundabout.

  3. Police on the look out for burglars in North Lincolnshire

    Police patrols have been stepped up in a number of North Lincolnshire villages after 24 burglaries have been reported since the beginning of August.

    The incidents happened in the Isle of Axholme area and more recently in the Epworth and Garthorpe areas.

    You're being asked to report anything suspicious.

  4. UKIP don't deny Mike Hookem left meeting with Steven Woolfe

    Ukip did not deny Mike Hookem was the MEP who left the room with Steven Woolfe. 

    It followed heated verbal exchanges among MEPs during a meeting in the European Parliament. 

    The spokesman told the BBC that the events that followed were not witnessed by MEPs.

    • A court has heard that police initially made 'no connection' between the deaths of two young gay men, one of whom was from Hull who were allegedly drugged and murdered in east London by Stephen Port

  6. Your water could be a strange colour for the next week if you live in Bransholme

    If you live on Hull's Bransholme estate, you could find your water is discoloured for a period between now and mid-October. 

    It's because Yorkshire Water are doing work as part of a multi-million pound scheme to improve water quality. 

    The advice is to run the tap until the water turns clear.

  7. Stephen Port trial: Murder accused went to prison for lying about death

    A chef accused of murdering four young men including a man from Hull by giving them drug overdoses went to prison for lying about his first victim's death, a court has heard.

    Stephen Port, 41, from east London, denies 29 offences, including four counts of murder and seven of rape.

    They relate to alleged offences against 12 men over three-and-a-half years.

    Mr Port was jailed in March 2015 for perverting the course of justice over the death of 23-year-old Anthony Walgate, the Old Bailey heard.

    The case continues.

  8. Sport: Grimsby boxer gets ready for title fight

    Grimsby's lightweight title challenger Kevin Hooper is weighing in this afternoon ahead of his fight with Scotty Cardle in Glasgow tomorrow.

    It's Hoopers' first attempt at winning the Lonsdale belt having defended his English title earlier in the year.

  9. Appeal after man attacked in Grimsby

    A 25-year-old man from Grimsby has been attacked suffering cuts and bruising to his head. 

    The man was assaulted as he walked in the Grimsby town centre along Albert Street shortly before midnight on the 1 October. 

    Police are appealing for witnesses.

  10. Hull man in court charged with attempted murder

    A Hull man has appeared in court via video link, charged with the attempted murder of his mother.

    Hull Crown Court (pictured) heard a 65-year-old woman suffered "grievous injuries" after being hit by a reversing car in Hull on Sunday. 

    Abdul Abbasi, 32, of Thorndale in the city did not enter a plea.

  12. Hull makes it into the Oxford Dictionary

    Thirty-nine names important to Hull's history have been included in an update to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. 

    The book features people important to British history.

    Valerie Sanders, a Professor of English at the University of Hull helped co-ordinate the list, she told us how it came about.

  13. Hull KR confirm James Green's departure

    There's speculation today that Hull Kingston Rovers hooker Shaun Lunt is set to stay with the club despite their relegation to the Championship.

    Lunt had committed his future to the Robins last year by signing a four-year deal, which became void when the club went down. 

    Meanwhile, Rovers have confirmed that prop James Green (pictured) has joined the Leigh Centurions.

    The 25-year old turned down an offer to stay at the Lightstream Stadium earlier in the year.

  14. Former Scunthorpe United winger dies

    Scunthorpe United have confirmed the former winger John 'Merfyn' Jones has died at the age of 85. 

    He played 263 times for the Iron between 1953 and 1959.

  15. Hull man in court accused of trying to kill his mother

    A Hull taxi driver has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his mother. 

    Thirty-two year old Abdul Abbasi, of Thorndale appeared via videolink and did not enter a plea during the hearing at Hull Crown Court. 

    The court heard a 65-year-old woman pedestrian suffered "grievous injuries" after being hit by a reversing car on Redmire Close (pictured) in Hull on Sunday. 

    Mr Abbasi was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on 16 December.

  16. Twitchers flock to Flamborough

    Remember we told you about the albatross at Flambporough Head yesterday? 

    Well today huge numbers of bird enthusiasts are turning up at Bempton Cliffs as strong winds bring in a number of rare birds:

    The endangered birds are normally only found in the southern hemisphere.    

    And what's more exciting is the RSPB at Bempton say it could stay in the area and start nesting!

  17. It's award night for Hull FC

    Hull FC's Player of the Year awards are taking place tonight.

    It's expected that the Black and Whites' hooker Danny Houghton will be contesting the club's top awards with his captain Gareth Ellis.

    The pair were both nominated for the Steve Prescott Man Of Steel award, with Houghton taking the accolade.
