Galloping to the rescue
Budget approved for new affordable homes
Plans to build 62 new flats on the site of a former police station have received backing from councillors.
The joint development between Borough of Poole and Poole Housing Partnership includes 56 affordable homes and six specialist homes at the former Gravel Hill site in Canford Heath.
Planning permission has already been granted and councillors have now approved a total budget of £11.83m for the scheme.
Work is expected to start in March with the homes being completed in September 2018.
Efit released over Andover suspicious incident
Police have issued an efit image of a man they want to speak to after a 15 year-old girl was approached by a van driver in Andover and offered money to watch him perform a sexual act.
The man pulled up to the girl in a small white van in a layby at Vigo Road on Saturday afternoon.
The girl walked away and the man, aged 30-40 with short, dark hair and dark stubbly beard and moustache, drove off.
Staff ask police officer to buy alcohol for teen
A staff member at a Southampton off-licence asked a plain-clothed police officer to buy alcohol on behalf of a 15-year-old child, who was unable to give proof of age.
It happened during a sting operation run by police and trading standards officers last week.
Five off-licence stores out of eight failed the tests, with four selling alcohol to the child who was working undercover.
The other store sold alcohol below the duty rate.
Police said investigations into the five premises were ongoing.
Shed load of steel beams blocks road
A lorry has shed its load of steel beams in West Dorset.
The incident is blocking Penney's Hill in Chedington in both directions.
Two charged over winter cash robberies
Two men have been charged over two security van robberies in Southampton last winter.
A cash box containing £30,000 was stolen at Sainsbury's in Bitterne in December 2015 and another containing £20,000 was stolen at Debenhams in January.
The pair, aged 27 and 28, will appear before magistrates on 7 November charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
A27 crash: eastbound lane reopened
Sussex Police have opened one lane eastbound on the A27 Chichester bypass, following a reported serious accident involving two lorries.
The westbound side remains closed at the Fishbourne roundabout (A259).
Titanic steward's locker key up for auction
A small key for a locker on the Titanic is expected to be sold for up to £50,000 at auction. The key was used by Sidney Sedunary, 23, from Shirley in Southampton, a steward who perished when it sank after hitting an iceberg in April 1912.
His body was later recovered and his possessions, including his pocket watch and the "exceptionally rare" key - with a brass tag stating Locker 14 F Deck - were sent to his pregnant wife, Madge.
Some items were donated to the Southampton Maritime Museum by Mr Sedunary's son Sidney but many remained in the family, including the corroded locker key. It will now be sold by Titanic memorabilia specialists Henry Aldridge & Son, in Devizes, Wiltshire on October 22.
A27 closed at Chichester
Sussex Police have closed the A27 in both directions at the Fishbourne roundabout (A259) on the Chichester bypass.
A witness has said the accident involves two lorries.
It is reported that the road will remain closed "for some hours".

A man has been arrested following two incidents in Basingstoke when a man was seen committing indecent acts in front of children.
At around 15:00 on Monday, 19 September a blue vehicle pulled up alongside an 11-year-old girl who was walking in Upton Crescent, Oakridge and the driver committed an indecent act inside the car. A similar incident took place shortly afterwards outside Costello School.
Police have appealed for information from anyone who saw anything suspicious or residents in the Upton Crescent area who have CCTV cameras which cover the road.
Orchestra launches new conductor role
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is to help train James Rose, a conductor with disabilities, to create, curate and direct a disabled-led ensemble as part of an Arts Council-funded project
The ensemble, conducted by James will deliver a series of performances and workshops to young people and adults with and without disabilities across the region.
The Change Makers Project commences in June 2017. It will be documented in a film to be released in December 2018.
