  1. Good evening: Five things we've learned today

    Jenny Cork

    BBC Sheffield news

Thanks for joining us today. We'll be back tomorrow from 08:00 for more coverage from across South Yorkshire.

Here are five of some of the big stories from across the region today:

  2. Suspended Chief Constable latest

The South Yorkshire police and crime panel has backed the decision by the Commissioner to suspend the former Chief Constable.

David Crompton was suspended in April after the force was criticised in the wake of the Hillsborough inquests. The panel met last week to scrutinise the Commissioner's proposal to call upon Mr Crompton, to resign or retire - they've supported the action.

Dr Billings will now consider the recommendation and decide whether to accept or reject it.

  3. Question mark over the future of Rotherham Institute of Obesity

    Jamie Coulson

    Health Correspondent, BBC Look North

Every year the organisation receives over £300,000 from the local authority to run its highly specialised obesity services - which include advice on diet, exercise, motivation.

But now the council is reviewing how and where it allocates money following a cut in it's own budget from central government.

The doctors at Rotherham Institute of Obesity have been told they could potentially avoid the cuts altogether, face a cut of up to 40%, or close completely.

Dr Matt Capehorn is one of the directors of the institute.

According to the latest local authority figures, around 67% of adults in Yorkshire are overweight and obese, that's just above the national average.

But in Rotherham that figure jumps to over 73%.

South Yorkshire Police say they've charged four men and issued two cautions in relation to graffiti offences in Sheffield since May.

Three men have also gone through the restorative justice process, by writing a written apology to the business owners whose premises they damaged and cleaning the graffiti off the building.

I would advise business owners to take a picture of any graffiti before it is removed so that it can be passed to the investigating officer or emailed to the police when reporting an incident." from PC Paul Briggs South Yorkshire Police
