Nigel Pearson's suspension comes exactly four months after he took charge of Derby County.

Denyse Sweeney's sister, Maureen, has been left "furious" by the inquiry in India.

"I'm furious about it, to be honest," she said. 

"Because they've clearly ignored information, evidence...for them to say that there's no evidence and actually they're still saying she's died because she was drunk.

"We've proven time and time again that she had no drugs in her system and alcohol was included [in that]."

As they made their way to Europe, Lawand's parents put a plastic bag on his head to protect his cochlear implant.

When they did eventually reach Dunkirk, the family was unable to charge the batteries for Lawand's implant and the boy lived "most of his life in a silent world". 

After hiding in the back of a lorry to get to the UK, the family was first sent by the Home Office to Halifax but later relocated to Derby so Lawand could get specialist help. 

The family of a deaf six-year-old boy who fled Iraq to avoid being killed says a specialist school in Derby has saved his life.

Lawand Hamadamin (pictured) and his family left Northern Iraq after reports the so-called Islamic State was ordering disabled children to be killed by lethal injection. 

Lawand is now learning sign language at the Royal School for the Deaf in Derby. 

In a statement, Derby County said: "Derby County can confirm that manager Nigel Pearson will not be carrying out his duties at tonight’s game at the request of the club.

"Assistant manager Chris Powell will take charge of the team for this evening’s Sky Bet Championship match at Cardiff City. The club will make no further comment at this time."

As the horse was not microchipped, the RSPCA is urging the owner of the horse to come forward.

Despite the horse's "pickle", she is now in a "stable" condition (sorry, really sorry...but not that sorry).

Mr Parker added: "A local vet came down and gave the horse anaesthetic so that we would be able to rescue her promptly. 

"We were very concerned that she might have broken her legs after the fall. She was examined after being freed, and thankfully she had not sustained any serious injuries. Her legs had been left bleeding after the incident and this was treated by the vet at the scene.

"We’re pleased to say that she seems to have recovered well from the ordeal. She will be a bit sore for a couple of days but she has had a lucky escape."

A horse has been rescued after getting its legs stuck over the edge of a footbridge in a field in Derbyshire.

A man spotted the horse this morning while he was walking his dog in fields off Park Mill Drive, in Alfreton.

RSPCA chief inspector for Derbyshire, Simon Parker, said all four of the horse's legs were stuck down the sides of the bridge.

"She was in quite a pickle," he said.

Derbyshire Police say concerns are growing for a 49-year-old man who was reported missing on Wednesday.

Vincent Fleck was last seen in Derby but is also known to visit Long Eaton.

He is described as 5ft 10in tall and has collar-length grey hair. He was wearing a striped T-shirt and grey trousers.

Earlier we mentioned Merlin has a previous conviction at Warwick Castle.

Well, here are more details.

The firm was fined £350,000 at Warwick Crown Court in April 2012 after George Townley fell from a bridge on to a dry moat at the tourist attraction.

The court heard Merlin would have been fined £7.5m had it not entered an early guilty plea. 

It was given an "early plea discount" - and fined £5m.

Nandkumar Nair, the head of CBI's special branch in Mumbai, told reporters the cause of death was cerebral pulmonary oedema, an accumulation of fluid in brain and lungs.

He said there was no evidence of assault or homicide and also no eyewitness or circumstantial evidence of any attack and medical opinion pointed to an accident.

Her family has not yet commented.

The news comes four days after Goa Children's Court in Panaji cleared two men of charges around the death of British teenager Scarlett Keeling in Goa in February 2008.
