  4. Royal pitch for South Yorkshire businesses

    The Duke of York's been in South Yorkshire today inviting entrepreneurs to pitch new business ideas. 

    'Pitch at Palace' was an idea from Prince Andrew and he visited the Factory 2050 building - part of the Advanced Manufacturing Park between Rotherham and Sheffield - to listen to local business owners. 

    He praised the facilities on offer at the manufacturing park as being good for innovation...

  5. Another step forward for the Great Yorkshire Way

    A big welcome home to Yorkshire's paralympians who helped the British team come second in the medals table in China.

    Grace Clough from Sheffield brought home the gold in the mixed cox four rowing.

    Ian Sagar, whose home town is Barnsley, brought home a bronze in the wheelchair basketball.

    Will Bayley (pictured above and below left), who lives and trains in Sheffield brought home gold in Class 7 Men's table tennis and bronze, with an all-Sheffield team, in Class 6-8 Team Table tennis.

  7. She's behind you! Wicked Queen shows up at Moor Market

  8. Paralympics GB arrive home

    Many of Yorkshire's paralympians have arrived back home to cheers from fans and family. 

    Some returned on a plane with a gold nose cone that touched down at Heathrow Airport this morning. 

    Paralympics GB came second in the medal table, with 64 golds.

    Here's a video from the plane. We really love Sheffield's gold medalist, Will Bayley's antics with his table-tennis bat!

  9. Witness cross-examined at Rotherham grooming trial

    A key witness in the Rotherham child sexual exploitation trial has been cross-examined today at Sheffield Crown Court. 

    The woman says when she was 13 she was raped multiple times by a number of Asian men. When questioned by defence barristers, she denied making up the claims in order to make money. 

    She said "this is about justice." Eight men deny sixteen historical charges, including rape and indecent assault. 

    The case continues.

  10. Your sport round-up this afternoon

    Our Paralympic athletes have touched down at Heathrow following their magnificent medal haul in Rio.

    Sheffield-trained gold medalist Will Bailey was among them.

    Rotherham manager Alan Stubbs says they're desperately missing defender Kirk Broadfoot.

    The 32-year-old hasn't featured since the first game of the season after a problem with his back.

    And Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson says players returning from injury will see his side become even stronger.

    They're currently second in the League Two table.

  11. Big cannabis find in Rotherham

    Police in Rotherham seized cannabis plants from a house in Eastwood last night.

    The house on Fitzwilliam Road was searched after a tip-off and a number of very large plants were found.

    One person was dealt with for production of the drug.

  12. Rotherham man given community order for sexually abusing girls

    A Rotherham man's been handed a three-year community order for sexual offences against two young girls.

    20-year-old Callum Worsley, of Oates Avenue in Rawmarsh, admitted two counts of engaging in sexual activity with two girls under the age of 16.

    He pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court last Friday.

    Worsley also received 100 hours community service and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

  13. Sports Direct 'sees sense' with independent review

    Mike Ashley at Sports Direct factory

    Trade union Unite, which clashed with Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley at a fiery shareholder meeting earlier this month, has applauded the retailer's announcement of an independent review.

    Sports Direct has "seen sense" with the investigation, which is "vital" for looking into the company's serious employment problems, the trade union said.

    Unite assistant general secretary Steve Turner said: "At last Mike Ashley and his board have grasped that they need to take some very serious steps to restore shareholder, consumer and worker confidence in their employment practices."
