Although the Suffolk side lost 53-37 on the night it was enough to see them through to the play-off semi-finals after their 26-point victory at Foxhall in the first leg.
"It was a professional performance on a tricky night led by Danny (King) who was superb really," said Hawkins.
"They started better which I think boosted their morale but when we needed to we stepped it up another level. I always thought we had a lot more left in the tank and we used it when we needed to."

Ipswich Town: 'A disappointing performance and result' - McCarthy
The Blues were booed off at fulltime after failing to score for the fourth game in a row.
"I thought the whole game was pretty turgid," said McCarthy. "It's disappointing again that we haven't created more and we've let our guard down (for the goal).
"Because we're not exactly playing great it just gets harder to really create anything. So it's a disappointing performance and a hugely disappointing result."

An illustration of the dangers balloons pose to wildlife
We shared a photograph earlier of a bird that had got its beak caught up in balloon ribbons, and mentioned that some people believe balloon releases should be banned.
Ann Guyton, from Great Yarmouth, emailed this photograph to us, taken on Yarmouth beach.
She says: "When the wave brought it in, the balloons dragged it down.
"There was no-one else about on the beach and the poor thing was soon taken right out to sea again."
