Today, Mr Hookem spoke to the BBC and said he did not punch Mr Wolfe.
He dismissed the incident as "handbags at dawn" and a "scuffle."
An investigation by the European Parliament could see the MEPs suspended from voting and their expenses cut.

The controversial issue of how long a chalet park in North East Lincolnshire is allowed to open for will be looked at again in just over a week.
At the minute residents on the Humberston Fitties have to leave the chalet park for two months a year.
But North East Lincolnshire Council wants the closed season to be extended to four months because of fears about flooding risks.
After months of going backwards and forwards between various council committees Cabinet will discuss it a week on Monday.

Mr Woolfe (left) collapsed yesterday at the European Parliament and was taken to hospital following an altercation.
Mr Hookem (right) acknowledged he and his colleague had a "scuffle" in the European Parliament but insisted that he did not hit him.
"Any injuries that Steven Woolfe had that caused whatever medical problems he has got did not come from me," Mr Hookem has told the BBC.
"I am innocent. I never threw a punch. I never assaulted him. I will stand my corner."
Mr Woolfe will be kept in hospital for a further 48 hours.

The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, is to investigate the conduct of the two UKIP MEPs that were involved in an altercation on Thursday.

Hospital dementia ward to close
A hospital ward specialising in dementia care is to close due to lack of money.
The service at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, in Grimsby, started in July 2015 but has not been able to find the necessary funding of about £2m.
Home from Home helped patients improve their independence and minimised hospital stays, said a statement from NAViGO Health and Social Care.
There were 828 referrals to the service in the year, it said.

Hull City Council says there won't be an independent inquiry into the baby ashes scandal.
Tina (pictured) and Mike Trowhill have campaigned for the inquiry for over a year after discovering their son's ashes were scattered without their knowledge.
They teamed up with other families from across the country and took their campaign for an inquiry to Westminster.
But today, Hull City Council said an inquiry won't take place because the Ministry of Justice has already done "significant work."
Mrs Trowhill told the BBC she's "livid" there'll be no local inquiry into why babies' ashes were scattered without parents' knowledge.
