Salmon tend to head up river at the same time very year to spawn.

Telford's Black History Group is hoping to educate the next generation on the role that black soldiers played in World War One. 

They've been investigating the role played by Lionel Turpin and Walter Tull, two soldiers killed on the Western Front.

West Mercia Police have passed 500 incidents for the day.

The force is continuing its 24-hour tweetathon giving an insight into the 999 and 101 calls they deal with.

The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion says he wants officers in the region to be given body-worn cameras.

The cameras would gather evidence as the officer works, and are aimed at changing offender behaviour. 

Several other forces, including Staffordshire Police and the Metropolitan force, already use the technology.

- Council group leader "disappointed" pool closure plans are still being considered

- Diet pills that caused the death of a 21-year-old girl from Shropshire are being sold on "hidden" parts of the internet

- One police officer in 10 say they're considering leaving the West Mercia force in the next two years

Shropshire's fire service is backing calls for sprinkler systems to be installed in all new buildings. 

It's hosting a "sprinklers seminar" at Shrewsbury Town's stadium on Tuesday and say it's expecting over 80 people to turn up.

The fire service described sprinklers as being "like having a firefighter on permanent standby in every room" and points out that in Wales sprinklers are already compulsory in new buildings.

Campaigners trying to bring a cinema to a town have launched another fundraising scheme to help move plans forward.

A Shrewsbury-based organisation that offers relationship counselling and support has closed.

Relate Shropshire, Herefordshire and North Staffordshire was part of a federation of 50 groups linked with the national charity.

Seventy two jobs are expected to go across the three counties.

A spokeswoman blamed financial difficulties and thanked staff, counsellors, trustees, volunteers and supporters, for what she called their "amazing" work over the years.

Relate, nationally, says it's assessing how demand for services in the local area can best be met in future.

Shropshire Council's scrutiny committee was looking today at whether it was fair for the authority to give people 12 months to put together a business plan to keep swimming facilities at the Quarry. 

Shropshire Council has said its preferred option is to build a new pool and leisure centre out-of-town at Sundorne - a decision that's attracted a lot of criticism from local residents.

Today's committee has now decided that the option offered by the council to give those who want to keep the pool at the Quarry 12 months to put together a case, was fair.

- Morale among police officers in West Mercia is improving, but three quarters of officers say it's still a problem in the force

Shrewsbury Town's Dom Smith says he bears no grudges against the club's former manager Micky Mellon for sending him out on loan to Barrow.

Smith has been brought back early by new boss, Paul Hurst, and is determined to prove his worth.
