  5. RUFC: 'Change of first team management needed'

    Rotherham United have a released a statement following the sacking of manager Alan Stubbs.

    They say the decision to axe the former Everton defender was made to boost the club's chances of staying in the Championship.

The club would like to place on record our thanks to Alan, John and Andy for their effort and professionalism, and we wish them well for the future.   6. Struggling Millers search for new boss

    Rotherham United are now looking for their fifth permanent manager since last August, after sacking Alan Stubbs.

    The former Everton defender spent less than five months in charge of the side, who are bottom of the Championship.

  8. Missing: Chihuahua and car

    Thieves are being hunted over the theft of a family dog and a car in Doncaster. 

    The dog - a Chihuahua called Hugo - was stolen along with a red Audi S3, with the registration number PN63 VXZ, following a burglary in Dunsville.

  9. Man's jaw broken in attack near school

    A man had his jaw broken in an attack close to a school in Sheffield.

    The victim was close to Lower Meadow Primary School on Batemoor Road when the incident took place at 15:00 on Monday 17 October.

    His jaw was broken in two places by another man.

    Police are asking the public to get in touch if you saw anything.

  10. Delivery driver attacked and robbed by two men

    A parcel delivery man was attacked and his van stolen in broad daylight.

    The 24-year-old was dropping off parcels in Charnock when the incident happened.

    The delivery man was in a white Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling along Bowman Drive towards Charnock Dale Road, when a silver Vauxhall Astra approached the rear of the van, flashing its lights.

    The victim pulled over to the side of the road and got out of his van, as one of the men from the Astra was reportedly pointing to the rear end of his van.

    As he turned his back, the delivery driver was then hit over his head and shoulders and knocked to the ground. 

    The driver’s van was then driven off in convoy with the Astra between 11:00 and 11:30 on Monday 10 October.

    The van and its contents was located a short time later on Basegreen Avenue, Sheffield. The victim suffered minor injuries.

    Police are now asking for the public's help.

  11. LISTEN: Bard of Barnsley says Dylan worthy winner

    The Bard of Barnsley, Ian McMillan, believes it was a 'great idea' to give singer-songwriter Bob Dylan the Nobel Prize for Literature.

    Dylan was handed the award last week for his song lyrics.

  13. Sheffield man charged over death

    A Sheffield man's due in court after being charged with the manslaughter of a 33-year-old in the West Midlands.

    Karl Swift was found with serious head injuries in New Road in Halesowen in September - he died the following day in hospital.

    29-year-old Dean Hartley from Burnaby Crescent will appear before Dudley Magistrates Court today.
