  11. Suge Knight accused Dr Dre of hiring a hitman to kill him

    Rolling Stone magazine

    Suge Knight

Suge Knight - the hulking ex boss of Death Row Records - which was once home to artists like Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur has filed legal action in the US accusing Dr Dre of hiring a hitman to have him killed.

Knight - who is currently awaiting trail for murder - claims Dre contracted the man who shot him seven times ahead of the MTV VMA awards in 2014.

The former label boss also claims Dre paid another man $300,000 (£245,000) to finish the job in January 2015.

    Dr Dre

Cle 'Bone' Sloan, admitted to punching Knight during an altercation on the set of NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton before the exec drove away injuring him and killing another man, Terry Carter.

Knight claims the hits were ordered to avoid paying him a contractual 30% of Dre's earning.

"Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge's lawyer has lots of malicious prosecution insurance," Dr Dre's lawyer has told Rolling Stone.

  12. The Velvet Underground and Nico to be performed live in Liverpool

Following on from our earlier news about Nico getting the biopic treatment the album that she provided the vocals for is to be performed live in Liverpool next year for the 50th anniversary of its release.

Cale told BBC News: "We were all really proud of what we did so it was time to have a look at it with some new voices and new presentations."

"There will be a lot of characters. I'm going to find some really good personas to come and join and it will be great."

  13. Bob Dylan may not get Nobel prize money

    Bob Dylan

There's another twist in the Bob Dylan Nobel prize winning saga.

His silence since he was awarded the prize for literature has been labelled "impolite and arrogant", by a member of the body that awards it - and now it's been revealed that if his silence continues - he won't be given the $900,000 (£735,000) prize money.

As a condition of the prize, the winner must give a lecture on a subject "relevant to the work for which the prize has been awarded" no later than 6 months after 10 December.

"That is what we ask for in return," said Jonna Petterson, spokeswoman for the Nobel Foundation, and she said Dylan could opt to give a concert instead of a lecture.

"Yes, we are trying to find an arrangement that suits the laureate (Dylan)."

Even if he doesn't get the prize money the Nobel Foundation does not accept a rejection of the prize - Dylan's name will still be listed as the 2016 winner.

  14. Velvet Underground's Nico to get a biopic

    Variety

    Nico

She is best known for her heavily German accented breathy vocals on the 1967 album The Velvet Underground and Nico and now, the late actress, model and muse of artist Andy Warhol is getting her own biopic.

    Trine Dyrholm

Italian director Susanna Nicchiarelli is taking on the project which will start shooting in Italy next month.

“Most people think, as Andy Warhol once said, that after her experience with Velvet Underground and the Factory —and after having had sex with most of the rock stars of those years — Nico simply ‘became a fat junkie’ and disappeared,” said director Nicchiarelli.

"But is this how her life really went?”

  15. Paul McCartney V Phil Collins part 2

    Billboard magazine

    Paul McCartney and Phil Collins

Phil Collins and Paul McCartney don't look like they're going to be becoming best buds anytime soon.

Collins had admitted recently in an interview that he had felt McCartney treated him condescendingly when he once asked him to autograph a Beatles book.

Now Collins has told Billboard that Sir Paul had been in touch via email.

But if you want all the goss we're afraid he wouldn't reveal exactly what he said.

"He's been in touch about it because he was upset," Collins said.

"I certainly didn't get any flowers from him; I got more of a 'Let's just get on with our lives.' And I'm sorry he's upset that I kinda said something nasty about him -- well, it wasn't really nasty.

"If people don't tell people that sometimes their attitude could be a bit better then you're not gonna get any better, y'know?"
