Leicester City have had two bids in the region of £20m rejected for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.

The bids were made on Wednesday evening and fell short of the £27m that Crystal Palace were quoted for the England international earlier this summer.

Arsenal had been happy for Chambers to leave after telling him they could not guarantee him a place at centre-back.

But their stance changed a month ago when Arsene Wenger decided he wanted to keep the 22-year-old.

Chambers joined Arsenal in 2014, but spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough as the Teessiders were relegated from the Premier League.

    how can someone who Arsenal value at £27m not get into their defence? Arsenal are terrible at the back, a bunch of isolated individuals without decision making ability or team ethic. Chambers was good at Boro alongside Gibson, who is a good organiser. Arsenal could do worse than both of them - they already are.

    Wenger got lucky, effectively taking over Grahams defence.

    I imagine if Chambers was, say, Eastern European his price would be a LOT less. English players are some of the worst in Europe yet due to this outdated view of the English somehow being superior, nearly all English players are disgustingly over priced. The world needs to catch up with itself.

    So he never starts,because he's not good enough,this is after gaining experience in a team that had to defend lots & got relegated,yet we won't accept £20-£27 mill for him... yet were prepared to lose £70 mill on Sanchez.. MENTAL.

    looks like a summer sale going on at Arsenal. By the end of the transfer window they could be without Ox, Sanchez, Perez, Chambers and Mustafi. Worse still, they probably wont replace a single one of these players, Wenger will just casually carry on....

    Gibbs is worth £5m, but Chambers is worth £27m?... Yes yes, age and potential... but Chambers hasnt done, much as I dont want to say it, an Eric Dier in moving to Arsenal and grown with the role.... Football is just mad. I dont get it anymore.

    Its a result of Wengers chaotic transfer dealings. Chambers was a player who we loaned out to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. It was obvious that he wasnt considered up to it. Things have now changed, with Gabriel sold, Mustafi who knows, so Chambers is now the big hope at the back. Wenger has no clue whatsoever , and no plan looks more than one week ahead. Chaos.

    Chambers is a good player! The fact that he was never given a chance is all Wenger! Leicester do not need this guy, what is wrong with Simpson, Huth, Morgan? Arsenal need to be playing this guy regularly. How can he improve without game time!

    What is going on at the Arsenal? Ox, Gibbs, now Chambers, Mustafi(?), Sanchez, Ozil.

    Yes, they need a mass clear out to freshen the squad up & to remove the sulkers, but I remember when Arsenal lost players to big bids, not wanting to walk out like this.

    The buck stops with Wenger. He signed everyone & he can't keep them happy. As much as I respect Wenger, something is clearly up.

    Wenger really frustrates me when he signs young talent like Chambers and then does very little with them. Similarly, Rob Holding was bought last season and after some good starts has had very little impact on the first team. You have to question his scouting ability or the system as a whole if these players never establish themselves.

    Time to cash in on these players and thin the squad out. We have far too many players on the books so him, the Ox and Sanchez for me can all move on.
