    A nine-year-old boy, from Preston, who had been reported missing has been found safe and well, police said.

  4. Seaside town has 'high number of fast food outlets'

    Blackpool and Manchester have more fast food outlets per 100,000 people than anywhere else in the North West, figures from Public Health England (PHE) reveal.

    The data shows Blackpool has 192 per 100,000 people, compared to 144 for Manchester. 

    Westminster tops the list with 199 outlets for every 100,000 members of the population.

    PHE said not all fast food is unhealthy and they will continue with the out-of-home sector - including restaurants, cafés and fast food outlets - to reduce the amount of sugar, saturated fat and salt content in food.

  5. BreakingBoy, 11, detained for rape of nine-year-old boy

    An 11-year-old boy who raped another boy aged nine may have been affected by looking up gay porn websites, a court has heard. 

    The youngster, who also sexually assaulted two other boys aged seven and 11, was found to have made computer searches for "gay rape", "gay porn" and "gay rape porn".

    At Preston Crown Court, Judge Mark Brown sentenced the boy, from Blackpool, who cannot be named because of his age, to four years in detention.

    He pleaded guilty at an earlier youth court hearing to rape and sexual assault.

    Police have objected to an application by Preston's Guild Hall to be able to sell alcohol until 06:00.

    The venue, council owned until 2014, wants the late-night alcohol licence as part of plans to open 24 hours a day.

    Preston city councillors will discuss the application - as well as Lancashire Police's reasons for opposing it - at a meeting later.

    Police are worried that an extended licence could result in more crime and anti-social behaviour.

  8. Bentley considers hotel for home games

    Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says he will look at putting his players in a hotel before home games to help halt their poor form at the Globe Arena.

    The Shrimps have lost five of their seven home League Two games this season, but boast the division's second best away record.

    Bentley's side are 10th, despite not having won at home since 16 August.

  9. Man busks as nun in fantasy footy forfeit

    A man was forced to busk as a nun in Manchester city centre as "punishment" for finishing last in his friends' fantasy football league.

    As a forfeit, David Rawlinson had to spend an hour playing his clarinet on Market Street in front of his friends and bemused shoppers.

    The 27-year-old risk analyst from West Didsbury said he and his friends had come up with an elaborate set of forfeits for their fantasy league.

    Mr Rawlinson, originally from Cleveleys, Lancashire, admitted to secretly enjoying his busking experience, which "passed by in a blur".

    The League Two side spurned a lead at Accrington on Saturday, conceding twice in the last five minutes to lose.

    "They've had their day off cancelled this week and we've worked even harder than what we have been working," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

    A nine-year-old boy is missing after returning to school to collect his lunchbox.

    Maklaine Bottomley, from Preston, failed to return home yesterday afternoon after going back to Sacred Heart Primary School to pick up his lunchbox.

    He was last seen wearing a red jumper with a white polo shirt underneath and black trousers.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
