James Whitlock charged with Pentonville prison escape

A man has been charged with escaping from a north London prison.

James Whitlock, 31, is alleged to have escaped from Pentonville on 7 November with his cellmate Matthew Baker, 28,

Mr Whitlock was arrested at an address in Homerton, east London, on Sunday. He will appear before Highbury Corner magistrates later.

Mr Baker was arrested at an address in Ilford, north-east London, last week. He was taken to hospital with a leg injury, where he remains.

He was in Pentonville awaiting sentencing for attempted murder.

Two men, aged 48 and 19, were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender at the same time and address as Mr Whitlock. Both have been released on bail.
