  3. Second man arrested after Bournemouth hit and run

    A second man has been arrested after a hit and run in Bournemouth. 

    Dorset Police have arrested a 19-year-old from Bournemouth after the incident on Thursday.

    The collision happened at the junction of Queens Road and Poole Road and involved a gold Vauxhall Tigra and a cyclist. 

    It was reported that the Tigra failed to stop at the scene and was found abandoned nearby a short time later. 

  4. Village nears end of year-long flood work

    Engineers have installed the last section of a large pipe underneath the village of Hambledon, to prevent a repeat of the major flooding in the winter of 2013/14.

    The multi-million pound scheme was funded by Hampshire County Council, the Environment Agency and Winchester City Council.

    The work, which has taken more than a year to complete, included closing the main road through the village and digging within feet of residents' front doors.

  5. BreakingLollipop lady and two children hit by car

    Three pedestrians have been hit by a car in Weymouth, Dorset Police has said.

    A lollipop lady has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

    A girl is also being treated in hospital for a possible arm injury, while a boy was only slightly hurt.

    Police were called at 15:44 GMT to the A354 Buxton Road, which is closed in both directions.

  6. Shop robber jailed for three years

    A man who raided a Wimborne convenience store, threatening to stab a shopkeeper with a screwdriver, has been jailed for three years.

    Barry William Clark, 24, of Arne Avenue, Poole, pleaded guilty to robbing Leigh Park stores in August.

    Detectives said Clark was traced after leaving the scene in a taxi and borrowing the driver's mobile phone to make a call.

    The taxi driver reported the incident to the police.

  7. Weather outlook: Mist and fog

    Under any clear skies we could see some patchy mist and fog developing tonight. 

    It will stay dry though, with lows of about 10C (50F).

    The cloud will thicken from the north tomorrow, perhaps bringing some light rain and drizzle. 

    There will be some brightness though, especially in the west.

  8. Police under investigation following Bournemouth hit and run

    Dorset Police are being investigated after a hit and run incident in Bournemouth. 

    The force has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission after a collision between a car and cyclist on Thursday. 

    Two men have been arrested in connection with the collision after the cyclist, a man in his thirties, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

    It is believed the driver had failed to stop for police officers in the early hours of Thursday and a police follow was aborted around two hours and 20 minutes prior to the collision.

    A spokesman for police said that as a marked police vehicle was in Poole Road at the time of collision it was mandatory for the incident to be referred.

  12. Two charged after aggravated burglary in Weymouth

    Two men have been arrested after an aggravated burglary in Weymouth. 

    Dorset Police were called at 18:45 BST on Friday to reports a man had been assaulted with a knife in King Street.

    A Weymouth man in his 20s suffered cuts to his face and was treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries. 

    A 22-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 17-year-old boy from Weymouth have been charged with aggravated burglary and are due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court today.

  15. Woman airlifted to hospital with serious chest injuries after Weymouth collision

    A woman was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the Weymouth relief road this morning. 

    She was flown to Southampton General Hospital with serious chest injuries following the two-vehicle collision. 

    A second woman, who also suffered chest injuries, was taken by road to Dorset County Hospital.

    The crash happened near the Jurassic roundabout around 10:10 BST today and the road is still closed as Dorset Police work to clear the scene. 

    Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
