  3. More than 400 cases of HIV diagnosed in the West Midlands last year

The number of new cases of HIV in the West Midlands rose by 10% in 2015 - with 473 people newly diagnosed.

Thirty eight of those diagnosed had left it so late to go to the doctor they were diagnosed with Aids.

Public Health England says the rise is worrying and reinforces the importance of safe sex.

There are more than 6,000 people being treated for HIV in the region.

And the crown court in Shrewsbury is moving to the vacant magistrates' court building (above) next August.

The closures are part of a long process of cuts within the courts service.

  7. Stained glass restoration project comes to a close

A seven-month project to restore some of the stained glass at St Alkmunds church in Whitchurch is due to come to an end this weekend, with the final panels being put back into place after a clean-up.

The glass and its lead frame had suffered all sorts of damage down the years as you can see from the before-and-after photos below.

    Before and after photos

The company brought in to do the work, Recclesia Ltd, nicknamed this panel the "tears of emulsion", because of the paint spilt on the man's face.

As you can see, it cleaned up nicely though.

  8. Hospitals chief exec defends plans for urgent care centres

The chief executive of Shropshire's two main acute hospitals says the planned urgent care centre in Telford would be much more than just a walk-in centre.

Under the latest NHS proposals, urgent care centres would be set up at both Shrewsbury and Telford. But all emergency medicine, requiring an ambulance, would be based in Shrewsbury.

    Simon Wright

Simon Wright (above) says there is confusion because there is a lot of variation in urgent care centres around the country and said that a relatively small number of people need emergency treatment.

Quote Message: If you look at those that are more complex, if we look at the Millenium Centre for example in St Helens, 60,000 people a year go through that [urgent care] unit." from Simon Wright Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust Chief Executive

  9. Ice hockey: Teenager to get chance with Tigers this weekend

    BBC Sport

A 17-year-old from Adams Grammar school will be part of the Telford Tigers squad this weekend, acting as back-up netminder.

Ted Thompson from Albrighton got the chance after the recent departure of Polish netminder Ondrej Raszka, and has been combining training with his school-work.

    Ted Thonpson

He said most of his school-mates didn't know he was playing for the Tigers, but he would try to make the most of the step-up to the senior team.

  12. Couple 'shocked' at Lions coach wedding message

A couple who met on the Lions tour of Australia in 2013 have been speaking of their surprise, after head coach Warren Gatland recorded a video message for their wedding.

When the pair first met, they were the only Lions fans in a stadium full of Aussies and Harry said recalling that made him tearful - to the amusement of his wife.

"He managed to stifle some happy tears when I walked down the aisle but once he saw Gatland he was gone,” she said.

Quote Message: I won't be allowed to forget it by Rebecca, but I didn't shed a tear at the church, or during any of the speeches,” said Harry. “But when I saw the video message, I started getting emotional thinking back to how I sat next to Rebecca as a complete stranger that day, and there she was sitting to my right again, but this time as my wife." from Harry Johnston
