  4. Water main burst update: Supplies shut off as engineers move in

    Gill Sennett

    BBC Radio Humberside

Yorkshire Water says the demolition of a building on Homethorpe in Orchard Park caused a water main to burst earlier.

The damage caused localised flooding to some of the surrounding gardens and three fire engines have been helping to pump out the water.

An emergency pipe is being put in place to make sure people living in the area have water, but that's meant shutting the water supply off for a couple of hours.

As soon as the rubble has been cleared and the area made safe, Yorkshire Water engineers say they will be able to start repairing the damaged water main.

Meanwhile manager Marcus Bignot admits they are still in transition to become the team he wants them to be.

Despite being unbeaten in his first three games in charge in League Two, Bignot says one thing he is keen on improving is being better with the ball going forward.

It's thought the pipe was damaged during the demolition of flats, leading to localised flooding to gardens.

Three fire engines are pumping the water out of gardens while Yorkshire Water engineers fix the burst pipe.

  17. M180 repairs not due until next year

    BBC Travel

The hard shoulder and lane one of the M180 near Epworth is closed in both directions for safety reasons.

Highways England says the 2.5-mile stretch is closed because of damage to the road surface caused by the recent heavy rain.

Two lanes are open to road users and the closure hasn't had an impact on traffic.

Work to repair the road and improve drainage will start next year.
