A lottery winning rapist claimed the police were jealous of his lifestyle after he was convicted of resisting arrest.

Iorworth Hoare, 64, now known as Edward Thomas, became aggressive after four police officers arrived at his house following an allegation of flashing, telling them: “I’m a multi-millionaire, I’m not going anywhere.”

A mother from Leeds is trying to raise money to get her daughter home safely from Egypt after she became ill whilst on holiday. 

Grace Wheeler's daughter Karleena was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia three years ago and was sectioned in the country at the end of September. 

The cost of her medical fees and special assisted flight home when she's stable will now amount to £5000.

Grace told BBC Radio Leeds that her daughter didn't bring any of her medication with her.

Judah Mazive has signed a one year deal with Wakefield.

The winger, who is a product of the Trinity Youth and Academy system, made his debut for the first team in the Super 8s campaign against Wigan Warriors at the DW Stadium back in August before going on to score his first try the following week against Warrington Wolves.

Police have re-opened the murder case of William Smith who was violently attacked 30 years ago today.

He'd been choked to death and found on the embankment that borders the rear of the Mirfield Memorial Park and the Calder Hebble Canal.

Bradford council should look at selling off more of its dilapidated buildings according to a senior politician in the city. 

Andrew Mallinson says sites across the district need millions of pounds worth of repairs, which the council can't afford. 

The authority previously released plans to raise around £14m by selling land over the next three years.

 But the Conservative councillor says it must choose carefully which sites it sells.

The Chief Executive of Bradford City Council says they're expecting a huge return on their investment from the Tour De Yorkshire.

The city has been announced as one of the six places that will host a start or finish along with Harrogate, Scarborough, Sheffield and Tadcaster.

Kersten England said that talks have been going on for over a year and that the cycle race will pass by City Park where you can expect the fountains to be on along with a light show!

This massive block of stone is a symbol of how close we are to completion of the refurbishment of Halifax's landmark Piece Hall.

Work to turn the Grade I-listed site into shops, cafes, offices and a large town square has been set back by a number of unexpected issues, including the discovery of a graveyard and the subsequent excavation of 200 bodies.  

The aim is to make the Piece Hall a destination in its own right, bringing in day-trippers from West Yorkshire, the north of England and far beyond.

Yorkshire's ambulance service is to end its contracts with most of its non-NHS providers after an "unbearable squeeze" on funding saw it pay private firms and charities more than £7m to transport patients.
