  2. My heart is broken - Makwala

    Men's 200m final

    Makwala trails the winner Guliyev

Isaac Makwala, who came sixth in the 200m final, tells BBC Sport:

"The 400m was the one I put all my money on, the 200m I do sometimes for speed only. It's not like the 400m. I never use blocks, but I am happy I was in the final.

"I thought I could get a medal, but I ran yesterday two difficult races and it wasn't easy.

"I will leave the championships with my heart broken."

  3. "I don't get the respect I deserve"

    Men's 200m

    Wayde van Niekerk

Wayde Van Niekerk: "I really feel I worked hard for tonight and I gave it my all. I have proven over and over I deserve what I have achieved.

"It's been a tough week. There are many people who don't think I deserve this.

"I work just as hard as every other competitor. I don't think I got the respect I deserved after the 400m but it's only the beginning and I will show my dominance.

"There was no secret - after my final, people said the results would have been the other way (if Makwala was in the final) but I am going to prove it over again and I thank god for this competition.

"I feel it's very unfair. It's not an overnight success. I have been coming through the rankings over the years.

"People are going to be angry but that is a competition".

  4. Taylor wins it again

    Men's triple jump final

    Olympic champion: 2012, 2016

    World champion: 2011, 2015, 2017

    Hats off to Christian Taylor.

  5. Post update

    Men's 200m final

"It was a tough week," says Wayde van Niekerk who appears to have been affected by the whole furore around Isaac Makwala's 400m expulsion.

  6. Post update

    Men's 200m final

Wayde van Niekerk is very emotional after winning silver in the 200m race, in fact he breaks down during his BBC interview.

  7. 'You make it happen'

    Men's 200m final

    Guliyev

Ramil Guliyev: "I make it. I believe if you want something so much, you make it.

"The going was so hard. When you race, you need to make your job. You run at your maximum.

"First thought [when I crossed the line] I asked, 'am I first' second or third! Because when you run at your maximum, you only see straight - not left or right!"

  8. Hi Time Magazine...

    Women's 400m hurdles

Here's the moment Kori Carter won the 400m hurdles from way out in lane nine.

  9. 'I've let the nation down'

    Men's 200m final

Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake: "I am glad to come through healthy. I feel like I have let the nation down today. I know I had the calibre to get a medal. I wanted to win. That's all I thought about when I go out there.

"I felt like I left it all on the track. It just wasn't enough today.

"I learned a lot last year and sometimes you have to learn the hard way. I encourage everyone to get out there and get active. Great Britain is the "Mecca" of sport".

  10. Post update

That's at least four fourth-placed finishes for British athletes...

  11. 'Not impressive times'

    Men's 200m final

    Michael Johnson

Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

The times were not very impressive so the standard of the 200m has gone down a little bit. With Bolt, Gatlin and DeGrasse out it created a close race.

Makwala looked like he had a great start and then the fatigue set in.

Van Niekerk found something between yesterday and today to be able to take that silver medal.

  12. Back yourself

    Men's 200m final

A friend of mine who called Ramil Guliyev to win - but didn't back himself - tells me that you could get 9/1 on the Turkish athlete to win gold tonight.

  13. Post update

    Men's 200m final

Ramil Guliyev and Karsten Warholm have served up two unlikely winners on the track in the last two nights. Guliyev can hardly believe it.

  14. Well done Mitchell-Blake

    Men's 200m final

    Michael Johnson

Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC One

He has had a long season in the American collegiate system this year so that is a great result for Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake.

  15. No Bolt, no times?

    Men's 200m final

Another 'slow' winning time at this championships. Usain Bolt won the 2015 final in 19.55 seconds, the 2013 final in 19.66, the 2011 final in 19.40, and the 2009 final in 19.19.

  16. Post update

    Men's 200m final

    Colin Jackson

Two-time world 110m hurdles champion on BBC One

Ramil Guliyev has powered his way through and he has taken this title away from a class field.

The top three did something special here.

There was one one-thousandth of a second between silver and bronze.

  17. Post update

    Men's 200m final

Isaac Makwala, the man of the moment, ended up in sixth.

  18. Post update

    Men's 200m

That was so hard to call! You rarely see such a close race. Five men in a line.

Ramil Guliyev wins it in 20.09, Wayde van Niekerk and Jereem Richards given the same time of 20.11.

  19. Gold medal - Ramil Guliyev

    Men's 200m

He can't believe it! Turkey's first ever gold medal at the world championships as Ramil Guliyev causes an upset.

There were maybe six men in a line with 45m to go and Wayde van Niekerk is run out of it into second place, with Jereem Richards taking bronze.

It's another fourth for Britain and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake...
