  2. Man cautioned for Crawley sexual assault

    A man has received a police caution after he admitted sexually assaulting a woman at a petrol station in Crawley.

    The attack happened on the evening of  22 October in Woodfield Road in the Northgate area of the town.

    A 40-year-old man from Crawley was arrested and has admitted the offence.

  6. Jolyon Palmer: British driver to remain with Renault for 2017 season

    Jolyon Palmer will continue to drive for Renault for the 2017 season.

    The 25-year-old Sussex driver will partner the recently-recruited Nico Hulkenberg at the French team as they build up to competitiveness following their return to F1 as a factory entry this year.

    Palmer said he was "over the moon" to be staying with Renault.

  8. Littergram allowed to keep name after Instagram complaint

    The owner of a South East anti-fly-tipping app has said lawyers for Instagram and Facebook have dropped their case demanding he change its name.

    Littergram invites people to share pictures of rubbish on their smartphone and report it to their council.

  9. Road works 'to be cleared by Christmas'

    Roadworks in Hailsham Town Centre "will be cleared for Christmas" despite a delay to the scheme, East Sussex County Council has said.

    While much of the planned work has been completed on schedule, a large number of service pipes underneath the road surface have corroded or become redundant leading to delays while utility companies deal with them.

    'Nighthawking' investigation in Eastbourne

    Police are investigating reports of digging next to the memorial of the B24 Liberator at Butts Brow in Willingdon, Eastbourne.

    Officers believe the digging is consistent with iIllicit metal detecting, known as "nighthawking".

  15. Appeal for missing girl

    17-year-old Hannah Allessendor-Pearce was last seen at her home in Ifield around 17:30 GMT on 1 November and has not returned since. 

    She was seen by a family friend on Friday 4 November in Coachmans Drive in Broadfield.  

    She hasn't been to college at Ifield Community College or her weekend job at Sainsbury's in West Green.

  16. 'You only need this to happen once to put passengers at risk'

    One of Brighton's MPs says he's alarmed that a Southern Rail commuter train could move any distance with its doors open.

    Govia Thameslink says it happened when the driver of a Tattenham Corner to London Bridge service released the brake too early, allowing the train to roll downhill for a short distance.

  17. £4m coastal protection plan underway

    Granite delivery off Hastings

    These dramatic pictures show tonnes of granite being dumped into the sea off Hastings as part of a coastal defence project.

    Two new rock groynes will be created with the 45,000 tonnes of granite that will delivered in stages from Norway by barge.

    The project will cost £4m, almost entirely funded by a government flood defence grant.
