    It should be another mild night though, with temperatures as high as 11C (52F) in places.

  3. Trial date set for Woodside attack case

    A trial date has been set for six people who are facing a range of charges relating to an attack on a teenager at Woodside in Telford earlier this year. 

    The charges include conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and false imprisonment. 

    The trial is due to start at the end of February.

  4. Watch: Shrewsbury prepares to welcome cyclo-cross event

    The 2016 national Cyclo-Cross title will be decided in Shrewsbury this weekend. 

    Cyclists from all over the country are racing in the woods at the back of the Shrewsbury Sports Village football fields from 10:00.

  8. Brexit leads to satellite business investing in Nesscliffe

    The fall in sterling since the Brexit vote has encouraged a Shropshire company with bases all over the world to expand its site near Nesscliffe, instead of one in Germany.

    Speedcast provides satellite internet services for a range of industries including oil and gas rigs all over the planet via its array of communication dishes here in the county.

    Adam Torie said that because sterling has dropped in value it was cheaper to do business in this country than on the continent.

  9. RAF warns of laser pen dangers

    The RAF says an incident in which a laser pen was shone at one of its Squirrel helicopters this week could have been very serious.

    It said that there was a "very significant risk of causing permanent blindness" for the pilot and his crew, who were all wearing light-amplifying night-vision goggles for the training flight.

    The RAF also warned that if a pilot is blinded or distracted, it could put the aircraft into an "extremely dangerous position".

  10. Ice hockey: Czech forward to get debut against Wildcats

    Telford Tigers new Czech forward Lubomir Korhon is due to make his debut tomorrow against Swindon Wildcats.

    Telford are on a run of just one defeat in the last seven games, which has seen them open up an eight-point gap at the top of the English Premier League table.

  11. Telford man appears in court charged with sex offences

    A 69-year-old Telford man has appeared before magistrates in the town, charged with a number of sex offences involving girls.

    James Heywood, of Bader Close in Apley faces charges five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a female under 13 years, two counts of indecent assault of a female under 14 years and three counts of assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration.

    He is now due to appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court on 9 January.

  12. Blists Hill to make Christmas Day TV appearance

    The Blists Hill Victorian town will be appearing on BBC Two on Christmas Day.

    It's the location for a special festive edition of Victorian Bakers, in which four modern-day bakers learn about the way the job was done back then.

    The TV crew used the Victorian town’s bakery and two cottages - you can watch Victorian Bakers at Christmas on Christmas Day at 21:30 and repeated on Boxing Day.

  13. Laser pen shone at RAF helicopter

    Police have issued a warning after a laser was shone at an RAF helicopter flying over Astley, near its base in Shawbury.

    It's thought the beam was from a laser pen and the incident happened on Wednesday night.

    Despite the distraction, the helicopter pilot was able to land safely.

  15. Travel: Accident partially blocks road in Lawley

    West Centre Way in Lawley is partially blocked and there is slow traffic in both directions at the Gresham Drive junction, because of an accident.

    Environment Agency staff are in Ludlow today helping the last of the salmon get up to their spawning grounds.
