  5. Burglars pose as armed police

    Two men who claimed to be armed police officers entered the house of an elderly man in Burton last night.

    The 69-year-old found the men in an upstairs room and later discovered money had been taken.

    Police said it happened about 21:00 yesterday on Stafford Street.

  7. Ashover: 'It's about protecting the landscape'

    There's been strong opposition from a group in Ashover after a decision to refuse permission for 26 houses on land off Narrowleys Lane was reversed.

    Today the Secretary of State overturned the findings of a public enquiry earlier this year. 

    Developer Marsh Green Estates, said it was a good outcome for the people of Ashover.

    However John Bradley from Act Now For Ashover said: "It's about protecting the landscape and our coutryside for everybody, it's not just about projecting it for people who live in the village."

  8. Charity helps teenagers through bike scheme

    Teenagers from deprived parts of Derby have been given the opportunity to ride BMX bikes to help them learn new skills.

    The bike sessions were set up by the Enthusiasm Trust.

  9. Inquests adjourned until next year

    The couple had been living separately at the time of their deaths.

    Earlier on Friday, Ms Nagle's son, Nathan Paton, 22, was also badly injured after he told eye witnesses he'd been attacked with a nail gun.

    Police said the three incidents were linked and they're not looking for anyone else in connection with them.

    Senior coroner, Dr Robert Hunter, adjourned the inquests until next year while police investigations continue.

  10. Inquest hears man died instantly on M1

    An inquest has heard Claire Nagle, 38, died in hospital on Friday after being found seriously injured at her mother's home in Borrowash. 

    Half an hour later her husband Vincent, a heating engineer and plumber, died after he jumped from a bridge on the M1 near the Trowell services and was hit by a lorry.

    The inquest heard he died instantly.

    An inquest into the death of a woman in Borrowash, Derbyshire and her husband on the M1 near Nottinghamshire hears the provisional cause of death for Claire Nagle was "pressure on neck", pending further tests.

  15. Plans to build 26 houses given the go-ahead

    A protest group in Ashover said it's very disappointed a decision to refuse permission for 26 houses in the village has been overturned.

    It means the homes will now be built on a field which was designated a Special Landscape Area. 

    Dr John Bradley from the group Act Now For Ashover said there are other sites in the village where homes could be built.

  18. Father rescues son from fire

    I told you earlier that firefighters praised a father from Derby for saving his toddler from a house fire. 

    Chris Ray from Borrowash rescued his 17-month-old son after he was alerted by the smoke alarm. 

    Firefighters believe the fire in a front bedroom was started by an electrical fault.
